Split screen not working for IPad Air 2

I updated my IPad Air 2 and I am able to do the Slide Over feature, but from there I cannot pull it over and turn it into a split screen. My bf has the same iPad and I upgraded his and it works just fine. Not sure what to do about this.

Hi Uthman1996. First, be sure you have enabled Settings > General > Multitasking > Allow Multiple Apps.

Be sure your iPad supports Split View. This requires an iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro.

Then, open one app.

Swipe left from the right edge of the screen to open Slide Over.

Select a different app from the list.

Swipe left again to see the Split View divider.

Tapmthe divider to make both apps active.

Move the divider as desired.

Everyone, just to be clear because a lot of info online has not been: split screen (Apple calls it split view) only works on iOS 9, only on iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro, and only if the two apps you want to see side-by-side have *both* been updated to handle split view. So far only some of Apple's standard apps (Safari for one) and a few third party apps (like Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.) have been updated.

Settings does not support Split View. Both apps must support split view. Once you have slide over enabled (the app is covering 1/4 of the screen), put your finger on the left edge and pull from right to left again. Boom, black bar and split view. Again though, I reiterate that BOTH apps must support split view for it to work.

Side note, I do find it odd that Settings does not support it, but I also believe that is intentional and not a bug. Not sure of the reasoning though.

iPad Air 1 here, so I know I can't get split view. However, slide over is supposed to work, and it *was* working great… until I tried it today. Now it doesn't work at all, no matter what app I'm in. If I slide from the middle of the right edge (which used to work), there's zero response. If I slide from the top or bottom edge, I get a little centered tab, as a cue for me to pull from the center. But it goes away after a moment.

I've tried toggling the Multitasking settings, and restarting the iPad. But slide over seems to have decided to stop working, all on its own.

And the funny thing is that picture-in-picture still works. All the other iOS 9 features work, as far as I can tell. Just the one I find the most useful — slide over — stopped working. I wish I could remember what the last app was that I used in slide over. I wish I could do an equivalent of OS X’s “killall -KILL Dock”.
