after update phone says "slide to upgrade" but won't allow it
I had the same problem. In the end I restored my phone to factory settings but now it's just stuck looping so I wouldn't bother doing that unless you reallyyyy want to. Others are saying wait a few hours.
I didn't even know IOS9 came out today.. I literally haven't updated my phone in over a year, it was on IOS7 and I just picked today to do it out of the air.. Terrible timing!!
but if i cant even go to iclouds to off my Find my iphone hw? im stuck at the page slide to upgrade. can help? thx
same problem here with my iPad 2. it's totally useless now. Tried hard reset, reset to factory setting, nothing works. going to try the downgrade to 8.4.1 and see. Thank goodness it didn't happen on my iPhone though. so sorry to hear that this happened to iPhone users.
just more info for Apple. I upgraded iPad 2 using OTA. I did the same thing for my iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini1 and it's fine. I used iTunes to upgrade my iPad Air 1 and my iPhone 5 and they all worked.
Check the last post regarding Find my iPhone here: iPhone 5 Stuck on slide to upgrade after iOS 9 update..
You need to boot up in DFU mode, not recovery mode. There's a difference 🙂
I did a hard reset and my phone is now working. Yeah!
I tried everything and finally Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS software sorted out in minutes. Sadly it is around 70euros, but it worked!
If you are stuck - and apples solution doen´t work - This is a fix that works - if not try again!
Connect data cable to computer - start iTunes - hold power and home until device reboots - on the splitsecond when the screen turns of release the power button - but keep holding home button until iTunes finds the phone and then release home - then restore!Next step hasn't been verified yet - but an idea! When going through setup and chosing wifi and typing the password for the wifi network - give the device app 15 seconds to connect to the network before pressing next!
I've been through this since iOS9 launched with 2 iPads and an iPhone - all were unresponsive until reverting to 8.4.1. Then today I saw that Apple had a FIX for the issue. I did the steps and low and behold, the issue is not fixed and now I'm without an iPad again. Back to 8.4.1 again.
This is pretty sad Apple.
So far this appears to be working for my Daughters phone. Thanks for the advice.
I spoke too soon. It got me further than before but after thinking I was going to get into the phone it got stuck on the slide to unlock again.
I have tried to restore back up from my laptop but iTunes says I need to switch off find my iphone from my iCloud setting on my iphone which I cannot access!!! Can anyone help with this please?
Same issue. My wife decided to upgrade from 7 and now has a brick stuck at slide to upgrade. I'm guessing apple doesn't have testers to test this stuff out before they their dump buggy OS on us . Itunes won't make a backup and I cant restore cause I have Find my phone on and cant switch it off.
There are a lot of replies in here, but here you go anyway: If the Slide to Upgrade screen won't go away after you update to iOS 9 - Apple Support
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can disable it by signing into icloud.com. Click on "Find My iPhone", then click "All Devices" at the top. Next, click on your iPhone and then remove from account.
Sorry that doesn't work should have mentioned that in my post. I removed my ipad from my Icloud account but it's still telling me in itunes that I need to delete it from icloud settings on my Ipad which of course I cant access.
I REALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION 🙂
1. Download iOS 8.4.1 to your Desktop. e.g. iPhone 4S(Apple is still signing 8.4.1)
2. Put your iPhone in recovery mode, not DFU; (Shut Down the iPhone, HOLD ON HOME BUTTON, and connect the USB Cable)
3. On iTunes, HOLD ON Alt Option Button on Mac or Shift Button on Windows, and go UPDATE, not recovery;
4. Select the previously downloaded firmware on Desktop and go;
5. Your iPhone will be at 8.4.1 with all your stuffs, pics, contacts, everything;
6. Now, you can update to iOS 9 safely.
