If you ever downloaded Yosemite before, then look for it in the Applications -> App Store -> Purchased tab

The final option is expensive, and NOT recommended. A paid Apple Developer account has access to older versions of the operating system for product testing purposes. The cost of a paid Apple Developer account is a lot more than the cost a free upgrade, and may applications.

In the future, suggest you always download a copy of new major releases, and "Quit" when the installer starts. This will make a copy of that version available in your App Store -> Purchases tab, giving your an option for a future upgrade you may not be ready for today.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

As stated above, you need to get Yosemite from the Mac App Store; that version will run on 10.6.8. There are no longer any downloads for 10.10.0; the updater you found is for people running an earlier Yosemite version.
