ios9 wifi not working

Hello,

Since updating to iOS 9 I cannot connect to my work wifi. It keeps telling me the password is incorrect even though it is identical to my PC which is connected. I have an iPhone 5s 16gb. wifi at home works fine.

iPhone 5s, iOS 9

Take a look at this Apple Support article:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

Reset your network settings.

Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings

Reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Also, those who cannot at least get cellular data to give them Internet or at least temporarily get wi-fi to work on their device are screwed. I use an older iPhone (a 4S), and my problem was NO Internet via cellular data or wi-wi. I was able to solve my dual problem by turning off VPN and uninstalling a VPN app. Others of you may not solve this as quickly, since obviously 9.0 has created multiple problems for people. If this disaster is causing you problems at your workplace, extra cellular data bills (because you cannot connect to wi-fi for free), or other significant problems, I suggedt you document your woes with your cell phone or Internet provider company right away to try to get some renumeration. At the very least, your provider can start putting more pressure on Apple!

Tried with 9.0.1. No Change. But playing further, it basically boils down to MAC Filtering turned on the Linksys router. So, there are 2 scenarios that I'm seeing here:

1) Keep the SSID visible and enable MAC Filtering. Wi-Fi on iPhone connects immediately

2) Keep the SSID Hidden but disable MAC Filtering. Wi-Fi on iPhone connects immediately

Any other combination, Wi-Fi will not connect, no matter what.Interestingly, if I turn on Guest Network on my Linksys, then connect to that first and then connect to my other SSID (non-Guest), even with the above settings in place, Wi-Fi will connect. But it is temporary as if I turn Wi-Fi off and back on, same issue.

I updated Monday to iOS 9 after previously trying and my wifi worked for a couple days. Today it ran sluggish and wouldn't update so I tried to upload the iOS 9.0.1 and it didn't fix it, nor did any of the other ideas on how to fix it. I downgraded after the first attempt back to iOS 8,+ version. I don't want to have to downgrade again, how about Apple you make a fix for it and push it out soon.

As has been noted on numerous occasions, Apple are not here. Try Feedback

Many seem to have solved their issues in many different ways, whereas the vast majority of the many many millions of other users seem to be experiencing no issues at all, as with iOS6 iOS7 and iOS8. Any release of any OS X iOS or any other operating system can not be fully tested in every possible combination of user conditions, Applications combination, third party router support, etc. etc. etc. And that is how it will always be. Apple will work on feedback they get. If you give none, then they will never know what it may be that is causing your personal issue. If it were a simple bug and everyone was suffering it, then that would be easy fix, but it is not the case.

Cheers

Pete

I finally got my wifi working, did the network reset and hard restart of my phone, and BOOM, it started working again, THANK GOD! Wasn't working at home or elsewhere, and neither was my data network, just kept getting a not connected to internet message when I tried different webpages, now I can surf with ease, so THANK YOU to whomever suggested that, you ROCK!

I upgraded a few days back and after about a day, I too lost my WIFI connection, and was unable to get it back. I started with the basics (router reset; reset network settings in iOS; forgot network, etc), all to no avail. Also frustratingly, my wife's phone, which is still on iOS 8.4, wasn't having issues. All of my other devices were connected no problem.

My Fix: I logged into the router and changed the ID (name) of my WIFI network and reset the password. Once I performed these steps, I connected right up to the new network ID.

Hope you find success in this workaround until Apple can get it worked out.

I upgraded to iOS 9 and today I noticed my home wifi dropping on my iPhone 6. I would look into my wifi settings and my network was not being chosen automatically. I would chose it only to find it dropped after a few minutes (~5 mins, maybe less).

So I looked in this post for the answers and tried most things but what seem to work for me was resetting my network settings and hard shutting my phone afterwards (hold home and power buttons until the apple logo appears). Resetting the network settings alone didn't just do the trick. Right now my phone has stayed on my home wifi for a good 20 mins. I noticed that my iPad is doing the same thing so I am trying this solution at the moment. It must have been the iOS 9 upgrade because wifi was connecting fine for both devices before the upgrade. Hope this trick works for you 🙂.
