I noticed that since I updated to iOS 9 the App Notes is no longer synchronising with my MacBook Pro via iCloud.

Sorry, this thread started out as an issue between iOS 9 and Mac and didn't pick up on your particular issue.

My wife and I do the same thing as you -- we have separate iCloud accounts but she added mine as a secondary iCloud to access my Notes. This continues to work just fine for both of us in iOS 9 (she's on 9.0.1 and I'm on 9.1 PB). However, neither of us have updated Notes to the new iOS 9 format, so perhaps that is what breaks the dual-iCloud account syncing, not iOS 9 by itself. Do you see any option to undo the Notes format update? Or once you update, you can't go back?

rockmyplinsoul,

Ha, that's ok, I welcome your assistance!!!!

I don't see anything where I can downgrade, if I could I would. It just really irks me that they removed this feature. Either they didn't realize the new format would break the iCloud sharing or what, but if they did it on purpose shame on Apple. I was told to complain (by Applecare) and Apple usually listens so if anyone wants to complain feel free to do so at apple.com/feedback.

In the meantime I downloaded Simplenote and my wife and I can share notes and edit them like we did on iOS 8 Notes. What I don't understand is why when you add a secondary iCloud account under "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" they give you the option to turn on Notes. To me I hope this is an oversight and they will fix it with a future update.

Thanks for all your help. Please go to the feedback section and complain, complain complain!!!!!! I keep submitting complaints. Hopefully they listen.

BTW, I upgraded to El Capitan and it works flawlessly between my iPhone and Mac, just need it to work between iPhones!!!! Ugh, so frustrating.

Since the capability to add a 2nd iCloud account still exists and you can still enable its Notes feature, I have to believe that this is an oversight on Apple's part. Perhaps an unexpected effect with using a secondary iCloud account (may not be a popular user scenario in Apple's view).

I'll update my iOS Notes format tonight along with Mac updates for El Cap's release, and if I too have trouble then I'll report the problem (and perhaps switch to a 3rd party Notes application or just start using a shared Pages file for notes).

Hi everyone,
I write from Italy and also have the same problem of Jeremy but not between two iPhone but between an iPhone and an iMac ...
My iPhone (6s) use my personal iCloud as the main while the iMac have my company iCloud as main...
I have always exchanged notes having set my personal iCloud (main iPhone) as secondary on iMac and activated the notes ...
It worked perfectly until I upgraded iNotes (iOS 9) for work with El Capitan...
I have AppleCare on iPhone and iMac, I called Apple and after several attempts they told me that they ask engeneering department and call me back in a week ...
I hope that solve very soon!!!!
Now I write also to apple.com/feedback to complain!
Let's keep updated!

Ciao

Paolo

Well after updating our Macs to El Cap and opting to update our Notes features within iOS 9, my wife can no longer access my iCloud notes. So, we opted for a 3rd party solution (Evernote). Works great, just sorry that we had to leave iCloud to make it work.

Feedback sent, suggest you do the same if you like to share iCloud notes between accounts:

Why would they not disclose this if this is a known limitation. Because they knew it would discourage people from upgrading? Pretty disingenuous.

There was barely enough to justify using Notes before (basically *only* the iCloud syncing capabilities). The fact that Apple's highly-touted Notes "upgrade" is actually removing more useful features than it is adding is probably enough motivation for many users to migrate to one of the many available alternate note-taking applications.

To be clear, the syncing of iCloud Notes works perfectly fine with iOS 9 (and El Capitan) ... as long as all devices use the same iCloud account. The problem is syncing between devices when the iCloud account is a secondary iCloud account, that is what no longer works.
