iOS 9/iTunes 12.3 not syncing app through devices

I've recently updated my IOS and ITUNES to the latest versions and when I sync my iphone is not syncing the apps automatically on my mac as it used to do before.

Is that a glitch of the new IOS?
Any easy solution to sort it out?

Hi all,

Same problem here.

It seems that none of the purchased apps, videos and music are syncing.

I tried manual sync through iTunes menu: File/Devices/Sync and Transfer purchases

Tested with two Windows devices with iTunes 12.2.1.16 and 12.3.0.44.

iOS Devices:

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0 (13A344)

iPad Air 2, iOS 9.0 (13A344)

Windows Devices:

Dell XPS 15 (9530) Windows 8.1 Pro x64

iTunes for Windows 12.3.0.44

and

Dell XPS 12 (9Q33) Windows 10 Pro x64

iTunes for Windows 12.2.1.16 and upgraded to 12.3.0.44

BY the way it did transfer updated Apps & purchases from my iOS 8.4 Touch , seem to be IOS 9 issue ( confirmation would be if my solution below doesn't work,,., if it does, it's a combo of the 2 software that at issue )

there is possibly solution for the brave & really desperate ..

If you have a backup of your Mac from cloning software (super duper/ copy cloner) you could boot from that & then use the older iTunes , hopely it will transfer the files , reboot to your main drive , then use "added to Library" to get file of the backup , it should replace old versions of apps & add new purchases...

Disclaimer thing could go wrong , be advise only try if very desperate for the files

I have the same issue... The only work around for me has been to keep unplugging my iPhone once it gets the the hang and then plug it back in again to start the process over. Each time it syncs a few apps at a time. I have a ton of apps so this is obviously an arduous mental process in patience but it works.

I've also noticed that if you go to your App Store on your phone and look at the updates, there's a lot of them you can download through the cloud.

Slow process but it works!

I have the same problem - any app updated on the iPhone (6 Plus using either iOS 9.0 or 9.1) does not sync back to iTunes (12.3 and earlier versions FWIW, and el capitan). Any app updated on iTunes DOES transfer to the iPhone when I sync. I also have an iPad air (9.0) however the issue does not occur with the iPad. I have tried restoring the iPhone, reinstalling iTunes, automatic app updates on/off however nothing works.

Another issue that has arisen at the same time is home screen views on iTunes for apps installed on iPhone do not load- constant spinning wheel in itunes . Again the iPad does not have this issue- home screens load fine in iTunes.

It is extremely frustrating having to download apps twice and not being able to manage apps on my iPhone through iTunes

My problem is worse!

After upgrading to iTunes 12.3, now it no longer syncs at all with my iPad!

That is, iTunes does not recognise there is an iOS 9 iPad Air 2 linked by cable to my Win 10 PC.

Prior to iTunes 12.3, just plugging the iPad into my PC autostarted iTunes which automatically began to sync with the iPad.

(Is there a setting I need to adjust?)

Amazing blooper, really, isn't it.

None of the above helped me, but did manage to fix it in the end. Turns out that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was uninstalled after updating my iTunes to 12.3

These detailed instructions via Apple had the fix for me: iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

These are the exact steps that I used and that worked for me:

Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, Windows 10

  1. Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
  2. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  4. Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
  5. In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
  6. Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
  7. Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
  8. Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
  9. Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.
BOOM. iTunes opened immediately after clicking next in the last step for me. I just had to trust the computer again on my iPhone.
