Where is the podcast playlist in ios9?

Since upgrading to ios9 my playlist for podcasts only has disappeared. The podcasts are on the iphone but I cannot listen to them the way I did in ios8.

It is inexplicable that this App does not offer a simple to use Playlist. It is such a fundamental feature of a podcast player.

There are four main problems with this app.

  1. Wrong name - Playlists are called Stations, which is just plain wrong. The role of a Station (i.e. BBC Comedy) is to broadcast (or narrowcast) content. It is not a Playlist. A Playlist should be able to hold content from DIFFERENT Stations.
  2. Difficult to use - To create a Playlist, you first have to create a ‘Station’, and then fill this Station with all your content, and then weed out which episodes you want to keep or not. It also restricts the type of episodes you can put in there, as Lost in Asia has pointed in various threads.
  3. Menu bar omission -There is no Playlists option in the bottom menu bar – which is the logical place for it. Instead, there are icons for ‘Featured’ and ‘Top Charts’, which surely can’t be as important as a critical function like Playlists.
  4. No integration - There is no integration between the Podcast playlists (called stations) and the iTunes Playlists – and they both have different menu navigation systems, with conflicting terms like 'clear' and 'delete'.

May I respectfully suggest to Apple that this Podcasts app should be redesigned from the ground up. Because it is not fit for purpose.

Indeed, the customer feedback on the Apple Podcast app is now so bad, that Apple no longer allows people to post feedback on it in the iTunes store. See for yourself by visiting the iTunes store.

Apple, please fix this App ASAP. You are a brilliant company with fabulous products - you can do better than this.

And to make matters worse, the sync function is now broken. If I place 8 podcasts into a playlist in iTunes and then sync the iPhone, I invariably only get a subset of the 8, sometimes as few as 2 - 3 appearing on the iPhone. As to why some do not sync, I haven't a clue. I agree completely, the Podcast app is very difficult to use and should be replaced.

Not sure if this was already answered...but iPhone/iPod used to be able to combine music and podcasts together in one playlist if you wanted. Then they took it away...then brought it back with 9.0 and I just upgraded and its gone again. I know you can just change the episode of the podcast to music but I like using iTunes podcast stuff...and seriously..just put it back! Plus nobody seems to really like the podcast app...Music is WAY easier to use.

So for now I use a 3rd party like Harkin which does just that...you create a playlist on your PC/Mac and your device sees the playlist as is..music and podcasts in the order you want. No I dont work for Harkin, I would rather use Music thats on my device but Apple keeps messing around with how its organized. If anyone knows how to put podcasts back through Music please reply

Sorry for the ridiculously large picture insert here. I thought that I was using a much smaller version. I have totally given up on the Podcast App on the iPhone. I have downloaded Harken to my iPhone 6s, synced the phone and the music is all there but I can't find where the playlists are nor the podcasts that are on my iMac. I have taken a screenshot of the phone and as you can see the Albums, Artists, Genres are all there but no Podcasts nor Playlists. Where are they to be found in Harken?

Cheers

this is a messed up situation, having no playlists. the problem in particular i'm having is that i have a podcast i just discovered, and it is required that it be listened to sequentially. i have been using the 'feed' function, but thirty episodes in now, i have to scroll down a whole bunch to find my place. so i created a station, set it to show 'all','oldest to newest' but it only shows me the latest ten episodes. how do i see ALL the episodes. i am up to july 2013 in the podcast, but it only shows from Jan 2016 in the station.

You can still do this by creating a playlist on a computer in iTunes and syncing it. Naturally, this means you have to make sure your iTunes sync settings include the desired playlist(s).

After syncing, it will appear on your iOS devices in Podcast > My Podcasts, above the list of your stations, in a folder called iTunes Playlists. Tap that folder name to drill down to the playlist you wish to play. Works for me, that way, anyway. Hope this helps.

Except for the fact that the sync function from iTunes to the Podcast app on the iPhone no longer works.

For example, if you have 10 podcasts in a playlist in iTunes and then sync the iPhone with your iMac, you will get

somewhere between (3 - 6) of those episodes on your phone. The sync function used to work flawlessly in the past but no more.
