ios 9 contacts not appearing in spotlight search

Hello,

I search for contacts that I know are on the phone and are located in the contacts app, but Spotlight Search does not return any contacts. It does return mentions of people in messages, email, calendar, etc. I have checked that "Contacts" is "on" in Siri Suggestions, but no help.

Ideas?

Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem and I'm seeing this issue raised via web searches outside of Apple.

**update** I turned off siri from within the spotlight settings, and contacts started to appear in my search results. When I turned siri back on, it continued to work. Not sure if that is a solution, but so far so good...

Hi,

Doing everthing but still it does't work. I think we have to wait iOS 9.01
When you write a name of person I see calendar, messages, mail, everything without contact. Or write a part of name see only 3 of them, not all.

Someone to know how can I change settings - first contact, mail, apps.... (for exaple) on Siri Suggestions/Search?

Guys, try the following, this just worked for me:

Go to Contacts and deselect all address books (under "Groups") so that not a single contact is shown. Then re-activate the desired Groups (address books) again. Spotlight search should now show Contacts search hits again.

I had this problem. Try do a hard reset by holding the on/off button and the menu button together till the phone shuts down and then switch it on again. My contacts then emerged when I did a spotlight search. Strange!

The problem I am having is changing the search order for the spotlight search, as one could do with ios8

True, the search order seems to be completely in the iPhone's hands. It's not even alphabetical according to the App names, by the way. I tried "Marc" - and the Wikipedia entry for "Marc" is shown even above Calendar, Contacts and Messages search hits although the Wikipedia entry in the Spotlight settings is shown almost at the end of the list.
