ios 9 contacts not appearing in spotlight search

Hello,

I search for contacts that I know are on the phone and are located in the contacts app, but Spotlight Search does not return any contacts. It does return mentions of people in messages, email, calendar, etc. I have checked that "Contacts" is "on" in Siri Suggestions, but no help.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's definitely not cured. I updated to 9.0.1. yesterday morning too, and in the afternoon, my Contacts were gone again from Spotlight Search just as I badly needed some phone number (the same thing happened two days ago by the way). Meaning that my method and the soft reset button method are no permanent solutions. I did both again and now it works, but it's just a question of time before the contacts will be vanishing again from Spotlight search. iOS 9.0.1. has nothing to do with this bug. I really hope this issue will be fixed with 9.1. which is already in beta-testing. Spotlight search for Contacts is one of the few functions that are REALLY useful and therefore heavily used by me.

Until this is resolved by Apple, I'm needing to go to Contacts and search there. Kind of defeat the main usefulness of Spotlight Search. I'd prefer Apple focus on making sure Spotlight Search fulfills its core role like searching Contacts, Notes and Mail rather than add deep search for other apps which I am not particularly bothered about.
