Hello,
I search for contacts that I know are on the phone and are located in the contacts app, but Spotlight Search does not return any contacts. It does return mentions of people in messages, email, calendar, etc. I have checked that "Contacts" is "on" in Siri Suggestions, but no help.
Ideas?

apple, please fix this!!
what takes apple so long to correct such a small problem? Very irritating. And please bring back quick contacts which was in ios 8. Missing it so much.

Its just a temporary fix. It didnt last long. Again in a few minutes as you use the the phone it will disappear.
This is a disaster. Same problem. Most important function does not work!!
I tried some of the other suggested fixes but this is the only one that worked for me. On iOS 9.0.2.

Installed IOS 9.1 Beta 3 (which I can highly recommend, it's stable and offers a lot more performance!!) yesterday and - keep your fingers crossed - so far, contacts are shown in Spotlight Search and haven't disappeared yet... will report back if this changes...
For the last 2days the contacts have again started appearing in spotlight searches. I didnt do anything. It started showing up just like that. So far good. Will update if any. Wonder what kind of a bug this could be? A self healing bug maybe...;)
I'm having the same problem. Sometimes contacts show up, but not the one I'm looking for. Wonder when this will be fixed!!

Hi, I'm having the same issue as well. I've tried hard resetting, I've tried turning Siri off in Spotlight Search, I've deactivated and reactivated the groups in my contacts . . . none of it has worked. Spotlight search is the main way I search for contacts and it's taking me way longer every time I need to pull a number. So frustrating!

No solution has worked for me permanently. The on/off of Groups and on/off of contacts in search work for a time and then seems to go back to no finding contacts. Any real solution is much appreciated.
Don't think I like iOS 9.0.2. I am really upset with this glitch - works intermittently, but mostly not. Locating contacts in Spotlight search is one of the best time saving iPhone features and it is now not working. Annoyingly poor/slow response from Apple to rectify this.
Furthermore I now get occasional freezes with iOS 9.0.2, which never occurred previously.
