After updating to the new iOS, when I open the calendar app and try to select a date, I have to tap it 5-6 times before it will open the schedule. The touchscreen works great in all of my other apps. Never had an issue with the calendar until updating. Anyone else having this issue. Solutions?

So I guess it now responds to a double tap. Got this info from a friend and it appears to work just fine. Still not sure why the change.
I've experienced this issue as well. Definite hang experienced. Call Apple support and document the issue with them. Also, file a bug report at Apple.com/feedback
I have the same issue too. Double-tapping seems to work. After I double tap a date and quickly go back to month view, I can click on other dates with a single tap. It's very inconsistent.
I agree with you: it's very inconsistent. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

I have the same problem. Sometimes the double tap works, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work it only works on weekdays where I have calendar entries, but it never works on weekend days or weekdays without calendar entries. Really weird and really frustrating.
I am having exact same problem. Unfortunately, today's update to IOS 9 did nothing for it. I am sorry I ever downloaded either update. About to get rid of IPhone. Sick of the glitches.
I am also having this problem. Very annoying and have noticed that the double tap opens the date however does anyone know whether this was changed through the update or is it a glitch?
I am having this issue too after upgrading to iOS 9 and iOS 9.0.1. Double-tapping works, and occasionally, if I tap real hard, the Calendar app responds to my touch. This behaviour doesn't happen elsewhere! What the heck, Apple? If this is a "feature", this is the dumbest one yet. Restore proper functionality to the Calendar app please. Having to double tap on a date is obnoxious and unnecessary. 😠
Same here. This must be a bug... I can't see changing this to a double tap on purpose. This started immediately for me with the original iOS 9 roll out and persists through this most recent update. Please address this one Apple.

Let's see if they seeded a fix in 9.1. Not responding to touch is a serious issue, as it's the basic thing. May be their focus is on 3D enabled devices and overlooked this 🙂
Exactly same issue. I have registered its as a bug in feedback.
i just took my phone in to the apple store for this exact reason. The tech there was unsure why this was happening, but exchanged my phone. New phone doing to same thing. Double click does work, but what a pain!!
