After updating to the new iOS, when I open the calendar app and try to select a date, I have to tap it 5-6 times before it will open the schedule. The touchscreen works great in all of my other apps. Never had an issue with the calendar until updating. Anyone else having this issue. Solutions?

Double tap works for me. However, I went by the Apple store yesterday and they hadn't a clue. Called Apple support today. Ditto
If they change the standard OK- but you would think they would have a memo on it or something!
Not sure if this will help anyone else, but it seems to have fixed this issue for me--I clicked on Calendars at the bottom of the calendar screen, and it had checked the boxes beside every calendar I've ever had. I unchecked the box beside an old 'me.com' calendar, and now I'm able to tap on a day in the month view and it opens like it should.
The double tap is not working for me at all. I'd not had this issue prior to the upgrade. Just installed second upgrade as well. Same issues.
Thanks for the suggestion, susie. This worked for me! I unchecked all of my calendars and then rechecked my Gmail calendar. Now I can access dates without double tapping. You've solved my issue completely! 😁 I'm still ticked off that it happened in the first place. And the last thing I would've thought of was to check the Calendar app's settings. Apple doesn't make checking settings as easy or intuitive as Android does IMO.
Ios 9.0.2 resolves the issue! YAY!!!
I have the same issue that everyone else is talking about and it started with iOS 9 as has been duly noted. The only workaround I have found is to turn your phone sideways and it will open to a "week view" which then allows me to see my entries.

You have to single-tap it fast and light . That will do the trick. The 'hard' tap will not work even though that wasn't an issue prior to upgrading to iOS9.
have updated to 9.02 still glitchy and have to double tap dates on calendar, kind of ridiculous, you think they would have a fix by now, all other apps and screens do not seem to have this problem

iOS 9.1 fixes this issue completely. Now the calendar app detects normal touches (like how it did back in iOS 8). Finally!
I Am having the same issue and after reading this thread, see I have an update pending for iOS 9.1. The details of this update say it will fix the callender issue. Frustrating but glad Apple addressed the issue
