I often import videos using the official Apple SD Card Reader, the videos are from my GoPro and have always worked.
my iPad is a 4th generation. I updated to iOS 9 last night and I can't get any of my imported videos to play. I just get the message "Unsupported Video Format", but before iOS 9 everything was fine.
This is a big problem......

If it's a small video, You can move it to iCloud Drive and it will work.
I have an iPhone 6plus and today experienced this issue. It's a huge pain in the ar$e. What is with it?
Once the video is imported, use iMovie to create a movie with the unsupported video then export it into photos. This works for me with all my GoPro 4K 30fps and 1080 120fps.
I have IOS 10.12.5 some of my videos from my canon powershot and iPhone 6s have gotten that message (not all)?
