Calendar and Contacts not syncing after iOS 9 upgrade

My iCloud and Exchange calendars and contacts stopped syncing after upgrading to iOS 9 on an iPhone 6. Mail is fine and iCloud notes are syncing correctly. It seems to be specifically calendar and contacts. I tried deleting the Exchange account and re-adding it with no luck. From desktop to web is working for both iCloud and Exchange, so definitely, the phone has the issues.

Anyone have a solve or things to check?

I am absolutely stunned at the length of time this issue has gone unresolved.

I was forced to upgrade my iPhone 4 last week when my banks both required updates to continue using their apps. I went to the AT&T store and bought a new 128GB iPhone 6S Plus.

I get home and I backup my iPhone 4 (IOS 7), I Restored the backup to the iPhone 6S+ (IOS 9.2) and tested for this issue. I found that ONLY CONTACT changes made on the iPhone will sync to OUTLOOK. Any changes made to my CONTACTS in OUTLOOK simply never get to the new iPhone.

I tried turning my phone off and on and tried again. It still did not work.

I tried "RESTORE iPhone" in iTunes and again "Restore backup", to no avail.

I do not play a lot of games on my iPhone. I use it for Contacts, Browser, Music, and occasional videos.

The fundamental purpose of an iPhone is to make phone calls from my CONTACTS.

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE APPLE LET THIS PROBLEM PERSIST for all this time?

This is unacceptable. I am still well within the 14 days AT&T gives you to return a phone. I already was torn between the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The ONLY reason I went iPhone was twice the memory. I intend to go in there tomorrow and swap out the iPhone for the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Truly unimaginable!!

Contacts synced on 2 computers, but would not sync on mobile devices - 2 iPhones and an iPad. Had to add a Dummy Sync contact on each mobile device, while Contacts was opened on either computer, and each promptly synced.

Sure hope this gets fixed in the next update, because it takes a while to realize syncing is not working. And adding back "Sync Now" would make the whole exercise a lot easier.

Apple has a lot of good ideas. Now to address reliability!

Hi

I have the same issue.

We have an iPad with an iCloud account and 2 iPhones (my wife's and mine), each with our own iCloud account. On the iPhone we also added the shared iCloud account to sync shared calendars and contacts between us. The problem occurs with the shared account. Contacts in iCloud stopped syncing with 2 iPhones and an iPad. Calendars are fine though.

Since the problem occurs on 3 different devices, I didn't believe that signing out from iCloud and resetting would help. I tried to logout from iCloud on iPad and did the network reset. It didn't work, still the same problem (apart from the fact that now I don't have any contacts at all on the iPad, before I still had them at least, though not up-to-date).

Moreover, on the iPhones I can't logout from iCloud since I only added the iCloud account there to have the shared calendar and contacts. The main iCloud account on those iPhones (2 separate iCloud accounts, 1 for each iPhone) work fine, the contacts in those iCloud accounts do sync as they should.

The syncing between iCloud (when I log in via icloud.com and change a contact or add/delete) and Outlook still works fine.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that the shared account we use is a 'very old' one? It's a me.com account that was automatically changed into an iCloud account years ago.

Apple, please, can you solve this issue as soon as possible? Thanks!

I solved this problem between my iPhone 6s, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro by changing settings on my iPhone. On the phone, I turned Cellular Data off and Wi-Fi on. Then, my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro synced Calendars, Contacts and Reminders.

It appears these iCloud apps, and perhaps others, may only sync via Wi-Fi in iOS 9.3.5. I'm not familiar with other iOS versions.

Now, if I could only get the Photos app in El Capitan to stop crashing my Mac....

Thank you for your post Comaz ! I couldn't figure out for years why my calendars wouldn't sync and had given up.

I gave it another shot today and spend the past 5 hours trying to frigging solve this issue.

I basically did what you posted and played a little back and forth on both calendars adding and deleting events and, oh..magic the syncing glitch fixed itself.
