Why is there no 'open in' feature on ios 9?

i Found it odd on the new ios 9 that there is no open in feature.

I frequently use google drive app and opening it on safari, and most of the time i need to open files such as presentations or pdf files in other application such as good reader or keynote. But after updating to iOS 9, there's no 'open in' option after opening a file in safari. Usually there's an open in option on the top right corner.

Opening files from google drive is also quite troublesome. i can't open files in other application.

does anyone else have this problem?

iPhone 6, iOS 9

The Google Drive app itself was been broken as far as the "Open in" feature was concerned for three months or so. Google recently released an update that fixed the issue for some files but I believe there are still issues with other files (possibly PDF) and the Google Drive app itself. I really doubt that iOS is at fault because if the Dropbox app (or any number of other cloud drives & their respective app) is used, there are zero issues with "Open in".

Be sure you are running the latest version of the Google Drive app...it's better than the previous two versions before it but it's still broken in some ways.

I am also having this problem. I mostly use my ipad to open school and work documents and make notations in noteablility or powerpoint. That functionality is gone with the IOS 9 update. I did find one work around - using chrome, not safari. In the document you have opened click on the "send to printer" in the upper right hand corner. This action triggers chrome to ask if you want it in your google drive before you print it. You can then get the document into drive and import it to the app of your choosing via google drive. Extremely frustrating to lose this basic functionality

I think I have figured it out!!! Okay, so at the top of the screen near the web address bar, there is that share icon. When you click on it it gives you two rows of choices. On the top row, If you scroll all the way over and click "more" there is a list of "activities." Now, I did this multiple times before and notability/ power point was not an option, so I am not sure why just a few minutes ago when I went checked again there was notability listed under the activities. Just drag it to the top and make sure that you have it on - the little switch beside the app. I just tried it out and it works! I was so frustrated that they took that "open in" functionality away, and although this is not at all as convenient as before, at least I don't have to use other web browsers... They still need to fix this. Good Luck!

Edit: not having any luck for power point... so I guess the next question is, how do you get the apps you want to show up in "activities"???

The notability app showing up in the share tab is due to notability updating their app. If you go to open up a PDF it still triggers the "open in" function and now two notability icons will show up. One being the "copy to notability" which pops up because it's a PDF and one being just the plain notability that can be seen at any time from the share button. Apple still need to fix something because using the option that pops up from the share tab will not always give you a clean download into notability especially if the file that is open in the browser is a .docx file it uploads a blank pdf into notability.
