Flashlight issues with iOS 9
I Noticed after the upgrade to iOS 9 that the flashlight icon is greyed out and won't let me use it. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Close all apps, hard reset (power + home) then flashlight started working again for me.
The problem is still occurring and it is almost a year later. I'm running 9.3.4 iOS. I, too, had to do the hard reboot (home + power) to resolve the problem.
Thanks, worked like a charm!
I've taken my phone to the Apple Store multiple times for this issue and they haven't been successful in fixing it permanently. The first time I had the prob was with my iPhone 6 128gb AT&T. They insisted that the issue existed because I had been restoring my new phones from backups of previous phones. (I have been doing this since my first iphone with no significant issues up until now) Since that visit I decided to hold off on factory defaultMing my iPhone 6 because I knew a 6s was in my future. Ultimately I bought a new 6s and set it up as a new iPhone, much to my dismay. As I'm sure most of you reading this can expect, I restored nothing but contacts from my iOS backup so I lost all of my pictures, all of my logged messages, and quite a few other useful things that I had been hoarding since my first iPhone 4. The flashlight problem still plagues me. I regularly use my phone for its flashlight, and it constantly glitches out. I've noticed that it seems to do it most when the ambient light is low... I'm curious if their is any correlation. Someone please help get to the bottom of this issue. I'll gladly accept iOS 10 as a solution to this problem, as this problem has existed since iOS 8.
Regards.
Chris.
Forgot to mention, the reset is only a temporary fix as most people are reporting. This isn't a solution. That's a lazy cop out. Get your act together Apple, Samsung is starting to look attractive.
I Have installed ios 9.3.4 and still have this bothering problem. Restart solves it for a short time...
yes this worked but why apple is not providing any update to solve this
try to power off your device and power on back again. This is the basic TS. Here is the catch, always do your update via Itunes for stable updates.
***makesure you know what is your apple id and password that been use in your iphone***
***dont remember apple id security question**>>* appleid.apple.com
Makesure>
wifi is stable>makesure you remember the passcode >itunes is up to date>authorize the computer>*perform a back up "to this pc"not to icloud>update>continue the prompt and complete the process
manage your apple id?
* appleid.apple.com
passcode article> HT204306
update through itunes article> HT204204
This works for me too , a really quick fix
so @marcel 73,did you follow the steps that i have provide?
Thank you very much it's really helps with my flashlight problem on iOS 10
Holding the power button down then holding the home button down as suggested solved the problem for me on an iPhone 5S and IOS 9.3. First time this problem propped up since I got the phone 2 years ago.
Thanks!.

This issue also occurred with mine (new iphone 7, ios 10) - one of the solutions is to go into camera and 'enable' the flash (same light as the flashlight) - in the occasions that the phone is too warm (after charging or sitting in the cradle in the car) - the flash (and so therefore the torch) will not be available until the phone has sufficiently cooled. this is to help prevent your phone from doing things like 'a galaxy note 7 trick ' - 😉 https://www.cnet.com/au/news/why-is-samsung-galaxy-note-7-exploding-overheating/'
Once the handset has cooled down (you can hold it infront of the aircon or a fan to speed this up) - all will resume normal function and the icon wont be 'greyed' out anymore..
Thanks worked gr
Had this problem this morning. Had an easy fix where I just booted up my camera app, then exited out and my flashlight icon wasn't greyed out anymore. ^^
Iam using iPhone 6+ with 10.3.2 and was having the same problem, but when I use this method now flashlight is working . Thanks
