iOS9 Airdrop to Mac not working

Update of 9.1 complete and El Capitan done.......still no Airdrop between my MacBook Air and my iPhone 5.....

Let's start from the beginning. After updating to El Capitain (MBA 13''2014) and IOS 9 (Iphone 6) the airdrop stop working. After updating to OS X 10.11.1 and IOS 9.1 air drop kept not working. My wife has a MBA 13'' 2015 that was not updated yet to El Capitain. Yesterday I tested my iPhone 6 with her MBA and the airdrop was working. So I concluded that the problem now was in my MBA with OS X 10.11.1. After reading a post about this issue I found the following tip:

1. Turn off Bluetooth on your Mac
2. Delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
3. Turn Bluetooth back on

I did that and my airdrop is woking again. Thanks AlexWoodblock for the tip.

Can I know how to the step 2 which I had copied out? I am also facing the same problem......

login to your wireless router

192.168.1.1

turn off firewall

restart Mac

after start

login again router

turn on firewall

restart Mac again

Testing AirDrop 🙂

I found that turning off Bluetooth and deleting com.Apple.Bluetooth.plist from /Library/Preferences resolved the issue. Once I turned Bluetooth back on, the other Macs suddenly found the missing one.

Deleting com.Apple.Bluetooth.plist appears to be the magic solution to this frustrating problem. Once done all my other devices appeared as if by magic...

Presumably turning on Bluetooth recreates the file - correctly..

unfortunately. i don't see the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file in /Library/Preferences

you can also check your home library at ~/Library/Preferences to see if there's a bluetooth config file in that location.

My iphone 6s 9.x wasn't seeing my Yosemite mac all of a sudden either. Not sure how this happened - but, to make it work again, go to System Preference on Mac, open Security and Privacy, Open Firewire, unlock firewire, go to Firewire options, find "sharingd" - click Allow incoming connections, and my iphone now sees the Mac. Yay! The sharingd is an Apple process that enables AirDrop.

Deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist worked for me and I am SO HAPPY to have airdrop working again.

So if you use the Finder and put /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist in the Go to Folder option, nothing comes up? Is your Bluetooth on and have you tried pairing it to anything? You might also try resetting the PRAM/NVRAM to see if that clears the issue. See How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
