iOS9 Airdrop to Mac not working

Trying to connect iPhone 6+ iOS9 to 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 via Airdrop but not showing up on iMac or iPhone, worked perfectly before iOS 9.

iPhone can Airdrop to another iPhone and iMac can Airdrop to another Mac, but not iPhone to/from Mac.

iOS update was originally done OTA and have reinstalled through iTunes.

Have tried all suggestions I have come across but still they won't connect.

Anyone have similar problems?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 21.5 in 2.9GHZ i5 16 GB

Tom -

While Googling our pet problem I came across this piece of advice, which worked for me - hoooooray!!

From http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/146644/airdrop-bluetooth-or-wifi

There's a way to use Airdrop without Wi-fi connection

There's a way to bring back the "Airdrop" to Finder again even that you just in Ethernet/LAN connection. Simply run the command terminal below:

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1

And, from http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=2231456&seqNum=2

"When AirDrop is enabled, it triggers Bluetooth to look for other AirDrop-enabled iOS devices that are in the area. This process is similar to pairing your iPhone with your car’s Bluetooth system. The devices “advertise” that they are open for business, and if they are within range of each other, then they start the connection process. Once the connection is made, a simple device-to-device Wi-Fi link, called Wi-Fi Direct, is created between the two. The Wi-Fi Direct link can be created even if you are in the middle of nowhere, without a Wi-Fi network. So, you get the fast file transfer speed of Wi-Fi without a router or an internet connection".

I've spent a few hours online with Apple support with this issue.. and tried every possible fix including all the ones suggested in this post ..they took a copy of my computer operating system and 5 days later replied that their engineers are 'working on fixing this airdrop issue'. .. pfffftttt ...their standard reply for anything in the 'too hard basket' They kept saying sorry but sorry just isn't cutting it right now with me...Apparently a lot of disgruntled customers have contacted them .. I have a new macbook pro retina and iPhone 6 and iPad 4. The iPhone and iPad can see each other .. the macbook pro retina 2015 is the problem .. have we all bought 'lemons'? Apple can't / won't fix the problem, .. I see that the next beta update for el capitan is currently being tested .. In the meantime deskconnect is doing a great job transferring my files.. great little app...
