iOS9 Airdrop to Mac not working

Trying to connect iPhone 6+ iOS9 to 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 via Airdrop but not showing up on iMac or iPhone, worked perfectly before iOS 9.

iPhone can Airdrop to another iPhone and iMac can Airdrop to another Mac, but not iPhone to/from Mac.

iOS update was originally done OTA and have reinstalled through iTunes.

Have tried all suggestions I have come across but still they won't connect.

Anyone have similar problems?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 21.5 in 2.9GHZ i5 16 GB

I just got a new iPhone 6s last weekend and my AirDrop is to working. It was working fine with my iPhone 5S with the latest version of El Capitan. I tried the suggestion about restrictions and that did nothing. Between constant app lock ups since the latest El Capitan update and now this issue with AirDrop, I'm thinking El Capitan still has some major issues!!!

This is so frustrating! Both Airdrop & AirPlay are not working after upgrading to iOS9. On my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) I can see my phone and airdrop from there but Mac not visible on my iPhone6 after update. Even AirPlay feature not recognizing X-Mirage application on Mac and not able to use it!

Is anyone from Apple listening? Don't understand if this was indeed an issue, why didn't they release the build with some kind of release Note on what will not work. Its so bloody frustrating.

I had the reverse, was able to Airdrop from iPhone 6 on iOS 9 yesterday (though it identified my iMac on 10.10.5 with a grey square with my initials instead of my usual avatar), but today, iPhone is not able to find the iMac and the iPhone does not appear in the list of wireless devices in my network as it usually does. At the same time, if I changed the Airdrop settings to "visible to everyone", the iMac could see the iPhone... but not the other way around.

iOS 9 has been a real mess, worst iOS upgrade for me. There are also problems with iCloud backups. The benefits do not outweigh the nuisances. In the future I will not upgrade to a new iOS until at least one bug fix release has been posted.

Whatever happened to "it just works", Apple? How about "insanely great"? Those were the days.

exactly, iCloud tested on iPhones 6 Plus and 2 iPads Air 2, there is no way to back up those devices. However, icloud app on mac says that the back ups takes 25 GB of my 50GB iCloud storage....***???

I mean THE MOST BASIC functionality is gone = AirDrop, iCloud Back ups, Spotlight does not search contacts(LOL) and the fact that I cant send emails via Yosemite native app is just bonus.

It just su$k$! Insanely r3tard3d!

So, yesterday Airdrop suddenly started to work between iPhone 6+ iOS 9 and 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 but today it stopped working.

Having a think about what might have been different, the only thing was I also have a 2008 MacBook Pro running Beta 10.11.1 (it's the oldest model of MBP capable of running El Capitan) on which I have Airdrop enabled via terminal command.

After an Airdrop between the iMac and MBP, Airdrop to/from iPhone and iMac suddenly seems to work.

I've just installed iOS 9.0.1 and Airdrop is back to work : it's working between my iPhone and my Macbook (running Yosemite 10.10.5) 🙂
