e-mail search slow for iPhone iOS 9

Apple mail very poor on iOS 9. I hope Apple fixes this soon.

ssearching email in iOS 9.0.1 is a DISASTER. after entering the search term, the blue bar advances slightly, then hangs up, and definitely, and I give up on it ever advancing. Apple please fix this -- search in the email is now terrible

It is very poor indeed on Ipad3. on IPhone 6 is perfect. Whatever they did is not for IPad 3

my solution has been outlook, much better. fast search. try it out.

Well I no longer have the problem with the slow mail searches. All I did was do a Restore and then an Update from Backup. (make sure you do a backup if you don't have a recent one so you don't lose any of your mail settings, apps etc). It will automatically install the latest ios version.

Now all my searches bring up results within 5 seconds like they used to. Here is a link:

I can only assume something got messed up on my initial upgrade to ios 9 and it had to be redone.

Same issue on an iPhone 5 running 9.0.2. Very frustrating, especially at work to have search query totally non functional on my iPhone!

I will try a full restore, and update this thread if I have success.

I was having this issue since iOS9 and think I just solved it. Evidently the Mail search works differently in iOS9 than with iOS8. Search results used to appear as you were typing in the search bar, but evidently now you need to hit Search/enter on the keyboard after entering your search term. I hope that helps you, too.

This issue is happening on my iphone 6s, as well as my ipad air 2, both of which have the latest version of (non-beta) ios9 installed. I have an exchange account and a google account and both are having the same issue and neither had the issue in ios8. Please, please pretty please make search and mail in ios (and on Mac mail) better. Gmail web interface is crappy....except for search, where it is infinitely better, for no good reason and I cannot see why a change would be made in ios9 to make it WORSE....

I can just agree - this is a complete disaster! Searching within my mail box is essential and I cannot understand how Apple can release new software that destroys functionality almost completely. I have the impression that Apple doesn't do careful software tests anymore and just throws new releases at people. I also tested the new version of keynote and it was a complete disaster as well. I was happy to find an old version somewhere to revert to the old version.

Can I downgrade iOS as well to version 8? I was completely happy with the previous version.

I too have a iPhone 5 and have found the search function totally awful. It either doesn't return any results or does so after a VERY long time. I downloaded the gmail app to use to search through my mail when necessary, but that seems really silly. Before it worked very well on iOS8.

Yeah forget about my "solution". The Restore and Update of ios 9 did not make a difference after a couple of days of doing various searches. It's slow again. :-(

Since updating to iOS 9.1, the "slow mail search" issue seems to have resolved itself for me on my iOS devices.

Me as well. Works fine now.

NO improvement on my iPhone 6s...
