In an attempt to try something I read I deleted two files from my library after I subscribed to Match (Trying to see if I deleted them locally I could then download a matched copy to upgrade the song from mp3 to mpa). When that didn't appear to work I re-imported them. iCloud status is stuck on "waiting". How do I get out to wake up and do something?

You just have to wait until it can get through to iCloud. The servers are jammed right now, so it might take awhile....
Did you try rebooting the Mac to see if you could at least "cancel" the request for now?

ls it possible that the original tracks are still in cloud. Match will not add another copy and will show iCloud status as waiting without cloud icon in download column.
Other wise try going to file > library and select update iCloud music library.

When I go to another computer, those two files are showing but grayed out.
HI,
Delete the grayed out tracks from your other computer. When you go back to your main computer, you will see that the iCloud status is removed. Select both tracks, ctrl click and select add to iCloud. This should now restart process and try to match or upload the tracks.

I deleted them from my wife's account, went back to mine. Still says waiting (but that may be because I'm currently downloading other tracks).
When you say "ctrl click", is that Windows or Mac? Whichever, no combinations of buttons and clicks that I've tried shows any option "add to iCloud".

After you select tracks, hold ctrl and click on selection and you will get a pop up window.
