iphone with IoS9 incompatible with Snow Leopard

I have an iPhone 5s running IoS9 (as well as an iPad and and iPad Mini, also running IoS9). I've updated all three over these past few days and now wish I bloody had not. The problem is the when I now try to sync them with my 2008 MacBook running Snow Leopard I can't: I am told the iPhone needs 'a newer version of iTunes', presumably because of IoS9. The trouble is - that my Macbook has the latest version of iTunes it can use - newer iTunes versions need a more recent OSX. I have just added four more CDs to my iTunes library but can now no longer sync it to transfer them to my iPhone. I know it is virtually impossible to revert to IoS8.4.1 which I had before, so what can I do? I was going to contact Apple support but they want £25. I think that's a bit thick seeing as Apple is responsible for this situation. Can anyone suggest a solution (other than 'buy yourself a newer MacBook - this one works just fine and doesn't otherwise need to be replaced).

The only thing that helps users to get direct access to their iPhones/iPads again on SnowLeo at the moment seems to use Third-Party Software e.g. like Wondershares "TunesGo Retro", with whom you are able to access all levels of your iPhone again.

Regrettably this is an expensive option, but at least it is one and maybe less hassle then trying to install some ElCapitan just for syncing your phones...

For my part i decided to leave Apples iPhone, so i sold mine to get me a wonderful Samsung S5, which now easily works with my 10.6.8-System, syncing by the free "Android Transfer App" like a breeze.

Well, yeah.... Wondershare is not really a "wonder" to be true, but it does its job, yeah.

Its ok, but actually just a good workaround.

It is at least giving you back the possibility to use your iPhone again like normal, when it comes to images, sounds/videos and alike.

It does NOT sync your contacts ... this job it is not possible for it afaic.

The only workaround for me was to use TunesGo for the sync-side of images and sound, for the contacts i was using the way thru .vcf-files.

To achieve that i did the following:

1. Prepared a new adressbook which i called "iPhone" and which contains all contacts that i wanted on my iPhone.

2. export a vcf.-file from that adressbook to disc.

3. send myself an email to the email-adress adjusted on my iPhone attching this vcf-file.

4. open the email on the iPhone clicking on the attachment. Phones will ask you if you like to "import as new adressbook-entries" or "import existing contacts"

5. your decicsion... i did it by erasing all contacts before importing the new ones, clicking on "import as new entries".

6. according to the amount of adresses in your iphone it takes a minute or two and voila , got your contact synced again.

Everytime i had entered new contacts on my mac-adressbook i did the same way again.

Truely not very Apple-like, no iTunes, no smart way of integrating your external hardware like iphones or iPads into your working enviroment as used to before. But at least ONE way to get working with iPhone again which was rendered useless before by the rubbish iOS9-update.

Still no satisfiying solution for me, thats why i meanwhile sold my iPhone5 exchanging it to a very smart Samsung S5 which flawlessly works with SnowLeo WITHOUT patronizing me the way Apple does on the iPhone. Finally after 25 years of using Apple-products i will quit the community.

Appple really has to take care which way they´re taking - as many other users here also reported to quit using their apple-stuff after this incredible attack of iOS9.x and MacOSX 10.6.8 - switching to Android..

And so it continues: Bluetooth just doesn't work on iOS9.1, either on 10.6.8 or ElC. BUT NO PROBLEM WITH MY SAMSUNG!

I thought I'd reset the 4S 9.1 to factory so I booted ElC on the iMac as 10.6.8 doesn't work with iOS 9.1.

My Apple id on the 4S didn't work as I tried disabling Find My iPhone-on-cloud. (heard one had to do this?) On ElC on the iMac I tried to re-enter my AiD and as it never worked I requested an email to change it then booted back into 10.6.8 on the iMac.

I received 3 email in Swahili?? like:

Yth. Jika Anda memerlukan bantuan tambahan, hubungi <https://www.apple.com/support/country/>Dukungan Apple. Hormat kami, Dukungan Apple

and was about to give-up when an English email arrived allowing me to change security questions etc only to find my language prefs WASN'T English! (Apple did this? I didn't?) I changed it to English & saved.

I hear iOS 9.2 coming soon? I wonder why? So I'll factory reset the 4S and see what happens.

I was stupid going iOS 9.1 when 8 worked, also it seems ElC has problems? Sticking with 10.6.8.

OK, did a deep restore 4S iOS9.1 on FW ElC.

No diff, Bluetooth pairs no problem, connects for @ 1 sec then fails? Reboot to 10.6.8 same problem?

When USB connecting 4S I get momentary flash of content of 4S. In Itunes 11.4 10.6.8 recognises 4S, 4S asks me to trust iMac then when 'Yes' tells me iTunes needs upgrading?

Apple Carplay in Fabia, no problem with 4S iOS 9.1?

Guess 10.6.8 DOES work with iOS 9.1 but Apple doesn't want it to?

iOS 9.2 out soon betcha it also won't work with 10.6.8.

Old Samsung works with 10.6.8 so, 4S Bye-bye! Thanks Apple!

Upgraded to iOS9.2 No difference. BlueTooth Pairs (After several tries?) But no connect. Obviously, like all users, I have done something 'wrong?'

Yet my Samsung just "PAIRS!" OUT-OF-THE-BOX! AND TRANSFERS DATA!

And my PV Solar SMA also?

No,"Do this, forget that, reboot......."

Can go back to my iPhone 4, IOS8..... but WHY?

Anyone want to buy an iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S?

Bye, Apple, hope Oz makes U pay proper Tax in OZ!!!
