Lifetime Memory module for iMac.

Best all,

I recently bought an iMac (27inch-, late 2013) and the vendor had place 16 GB of additional memory from the brand LIFETIME.

My system information reads as follows:

4Gb DDR3 1600mhz OK

4Gb DDR3 1600mhz OK

8Gb DDR3 1600mhz OK

8Gb DDR3 1600mhz OK

Does anyone know if this LIFETIME brand is supported by Apple?

I didn't like the fact that the vendor had added this type of memory brand to my iMac but he assured me that there would not be any problems. He didn't have memory modules from Apple so sold me this instead.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

RAM works or it doesn't, it's that simple. While I have never heard of that brand, if it works it works. What is more important is what is it's warranty? Quality RAM has a lifetime warranty, if this does not then demand they install quality RAM, the two most popular vendors quoted for RAM on these forums are Crucial (buy it direct) and OWC (www.macsales.com).

Apple will not warrant any third party RAM, however the warranty will not be affected by the mfg. of RAM installed.

LIFETIME RAM may be compatible with Apple hardware, but support (like warranties) would be supported by LIFETIME. In the same way, if you purchased CRUCIAL RAM, the support (and warranties) would be supported by CRUCIAL, not Apple. Your best option is to call LIFETIME customer service if you're having a problem.

If you're not having a problem, then there's probably nothing to worry about. If LIFETIME sold you incorrect RAM, you should contact LIFETIME for a replacement or money back, depending on your purchase agreement.
