My iPhone 5s has the same fault, very frustrating.

I too have had this issue after the updates. This fix is only temporary. The gray box will come back while I am texting someone. This is horrible and worse than annoying. I am losing faith in Apple.

I have the 6s and shut off the "raise to listen" and also did the 9.02 d/l and have not had any issue in almost two weeks.It has not recurred.
