ipad very slow after ios9

Same here. iPad worked well under iOS 7, slow under iOS 8, very very slow under iOS 9 and 9.1.

I did change few settings as recommended in few places, like this one:

Didn't help.

Then I have reset it, including wiping all data. Situation has improved, but it is still very slow, much slower than iOS 7.

I hope that apple are listening and that future updates will improve this.

If I could, I would revert to iOS 7.

That's exactly what I was thinking. How else could such a perfect piece of hardware turn into a piece of **** overnight? It is so f'n irritating trying to type something in and having to wait for the word to finally show up and if you have to correct it - aw ****, I end up just closing it. I will never buy another apple product again. Seems like this has been happening since their leader died. I wonder who runs the company now? I doubt they have the same ethics or this wouldn't be happening. He should have left the company to all the customers, that would have been a trip!😮

same here buddy! don't know what I haven't done the last month but little iPad friend is slow as **** after iOs9 update. it's stupid because it's a 64GB model from 2012 with 80% memory being free. tried with deleting apps, unnecessary photos, turning off background app refresh, notifications for some apps... nothing seems to work!!! and as you've said it has a problem opening bloody e-mail!!! any other advice except going back for earlier iOs version? tnx! 🙂

Did you try looking at my link of performance tips?

One thing you can try that is in my linked list of tips is turning graphics transparency to OFF.

It doesn't look all that pretty, but has given my iPad 2 an extra speed bump by turning this off.

ANYTHING you can buy, if it doesn’t last as long as YOU think it should, you could call “planned obsolescence” on!

iPad 2 hardware is nearly 7years old, now!

FYI,

With unnecessary iOS resource eating features turned OFF, my iPad 2 is running just spiffy on iOS 9.

How well would a 7-10 year old computer run a modern day OS on it?

Would you STILL call that “planned obsolescence” ?

Planned obsolescence is a complete and utter MYTH perpetuated by uninformed/ill-informed angry technology users who think any type of computer or computing device should last NO LESS than 10 years or more!

Get real!

Technology advances every single year at an ever growing and expanding pace and scope!

Technology devices go obsolete and/or get slower as software demands grow more sophisticated and older hardware can no longer cope with the running software.

That is why Apple strips out a lot a new software functionality for older mobile devices and some of their older computers.

The 5, 6, 7 plus year old hardware can’t handle the code of some the new operating system features.

Period.

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

• Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
• Press and hold on the Home button
• Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

This worked for me: go to your wifi network, click the little "i", then choose "Forget this network." You can reconnect to the network after it disconnects.

Once I did that, my issues resolved.

I have Ipad Air 2, and this devise won't be slow. However, after upgrade to iOS9 that happens. Very slow, literally, after pressing button or typing password or even passcode half minute or more to response.

I was desperate. Somehow, the problem has gone overnight, and hasn't back till today.

Now it's back.

I've checked some options, and can see, the issue tied to network connection generally, and strictly tied to icloud functions. First, it's gone when i'm shutting wifi down. Second, it's somehow relieves after shutting down icloud services one by one.

And totally gone, when i did "forget this connection" and connect it back.

I think, the problem tied to recently founded trojan's in app store, however, apple doing it's best to resolve the issue, but still, "Cupertino, we have a problem".

I also had a slow iPad Air after updating to iOS 9.

I reset all settings and my iPad Air is back to speedy and snappy 🙂

"Reset all settings" is in Settings/General/Reset.

It does not modify your data, but you have to re-choose your wallpaper, change your code settings, network settings and so on.

Having done a little research on "the net" I find I am far from alone in being annoyed by IOS9s negative effect on my ipad - already nearly 5000 views of "ipad very slow after IOS9" topic. Up until very recently I've seen my iPad as one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. But IOS9 has changed this view overnight. Well not quite overnight as it has taken me a little while to implement every tip/trick I can find to return my iPad to it's previously swift, responsive state. Having done everything I can, apart from reverting to an earlier IOS, my iPad remains IRRITATINGLY slow. Apart from having to WAIT for apps to open, even Email (something which never happened before) The inbuilt music app is now a very poor relation to what it was a couple of years ago - it's now completely xxxx (add an expletive of your choice) All the artwork has gone and even the volume setting popup has disappeared (this is global - not just music app related). I'm talking about non-iTunes music from my own collection here - I'm sure the iTunes app, from which Apple make money is great, but then again maybe not. Anyways there are other issues too but I'm sure apple know about these and frankly I don't have the time to discuss. The main issue is speed, or rather lack of it. My question to Apple is......

I thought new operating systems were supposed to be better/faster/more responsive than their predecessors. This one is clearly not better. If you think it is - please tell me how because in my experience it certainly is not.
