Who has a copy of the Ipad wallpaper Pyramid Lake (at night) which has been done away on a earlier version of IOS?

I am looking for the Wallpaper that came with a very early version of IOS. The wallpaper is Pyramid Lake (at night). I found a copy online but they were poor quality. I am just wondering if any users who have captured a full resolution copy of the image willing to share with me. I think when IOS was upgraded, the copyright of that image was terminated and Apple could no longer use that image on their future IOS. Thanks for your time in helping.

That's not the image I meant. Read my post again, especially the line with the smiley. Don't look at the actual images in the results, look for the text I mentioned in the results. The 2048 x 2048 .png is in a forum contained in one of the search results using the exact search term I posted above. It's there if you look...

I hate to be vague and obscure about this but I certainly found it within 5 or 10 minutes of searching. I don't feel comfortable supplying the direct link, especially to another forum. Also, where would I "shoot" the image to? If you supply personal email info here, it would be removed.

Good luck in your hunt.

Hi Serg:

I have examined all the images, they have all been poorly doctored from the web. I have been hunting that particular image for 2 years now. Your 2048x2048 may be what I need. I am using one that is very very close, however the color is off. Do you think you can find a way to shoot you 2048 png to me? Thanks....

This is the one I am talking about, but this one is close and not quite. I think yours might be it if we are talking about the same language, or the alternative one for the original ipad.

Kwan,

Your thanks is more than enough along with my own satisfaction of helping someone out...this is exactly why many of us long-timers here do this (field questions and help when/if we can). I'm glad I didn't put you off by my obscurity. It's very easy to just post a link but I'm always unsure about link guidelines here in this forum despite being here since 2007. 😀

You're more than welcome and enjoy your long-lost background.

I have all of the original 2048 x 2048 .png files from iOS 6 but can't post a link to anything since they're stored locally...

But to help you out, I did do a Google search for "ios 6 lake wallpaper ipad" and found a link to most (if not all) of the iOS 6 wallpapers. The are the same resolution but are in .jpg format. It probably won't make any difference to you however since you're already using a low res version and this will beat the pants off of it.

Do the same search and you'll find what you seek. 😉 (the result will contain "stock" & "retina")

Hint: if you look hard enough, you'll find the 2048 x 2048 .png files as well.

Thanks so much. I have revisited your original message and taken your advise word for word 🙂. Mission accomplished!!! Also, I am so new in this forum and thanks for sharing the protocols on how to use this forum.

After searching on and off for that "Lake" picture and beating on the bush all by myself for three years, I finally called up my retired professor/friend in photography and he advised me to post it on this forum, then I bummed into your message. I went to school for photography 20 years ago and haven't seen another better wallpaper as beautiful as the "lake" that came with the original ipad. Later on I found out that it was supplied by one of my favorite photographer Richard Misrach, Apple did away the wallpaper because Misrach owns the copyright.

I appreciate for your help. Don't know what I can offer you :-)

You seem to know a lot about images, and know how to search stuff well, please allow me to ask two questions. You know the picture above that I have posted, it is a different "lake" picture from the IPAD "lake" image that you have clued me. Do you know where this different "lake" picture was used, was it a desktop wallpaper, or something else? I have never owned a Mac computer, so I wouldn't know. Also, where do you think I can find a super hi-res of this different "lake".

Thanks again. I appreciate for your information 🙂.

It appears that the particular wallpaper image you posted was derived from the original iPad wallpaper but modified to be in a widescreen format to be used on desktop/laptop PCs. The image was "mirrored" in two different places, approx. 1/3 of the way from both the left side & right side. If you look closely, you can see it (especially the right-side mirror). Mirror-image mountains of course don't occur naturally in nature. 😁

The second question: try searching for "retina" "wallpaper" "iOS 6" "lake" "widescreen" "HD" in different combinations. There are numerous wallpaper sites out there that just may have that particular image in high-res...someone had to create it and I'm sure they didn't create a crummy low-res only version. It will be difficult to find though since it was modified by someone and is not the original.

Hi Bob:

I got it. I am hunting for the 2048 png now. Going for the original. SERG took me so far today and narrowed down the search to the last step. Not a whole lot of people have the original PNG image. If so, they posted up at their own forums long ago and have removed them. Obviously PNG occupies 315mb of storage space for each individual image. Something that I just learnt tonight 🙂.
