iPhone 6s freezes when unlocking

Hello,

I have an issue when using Touch ID to unlock the new iPhone 6s.

It freezes when the home screen is displayed for about 2 seconds after fingerprint unlock and you can't swipe or open any apps.

Very short amount of time but definitely freezing and not my imagination. Home screen apps have loaded up but you can't swipe or select apps.

Lots of other users experiencing the same issue:

I have tried the following:

1. Turning off Touch ID

2. Resetting phone

3. Turning on Touch ID

This seemed to temporarily solve the issue but now its back intermittently. Can anyone determine if this is a software or hardware issue with Touch ID?

Hi Ruprick,

It would appear the issue has gone away. I don't have very fast internet and so the indexing probably took a while. I was also out and about whilst apps were loading up so the strain of a load of apps downloading and the phone setting up was probably what caused the freezing whilst the phone was indexing.

I'll update this thread if the problem reoccurs.

If anyone has just bought an iPhone 6s or 6s plus and is experiencing the same issue please wait until the phone has downloaded all your apps (whether you are installing fresh or from backup).

It wouldn't also hurt to do the following:

1. Turn off Touch ID in settings

2. Hold down the power button and home button to restart the phone

3. Turn on Touch ID in settings

-or-

4. Turn off spotlight search (until you have a good connection for spotlight search to finish indexing)

As a very last resort and after waiting a day or so if the problem still persists then do a restore.

I don't understand why so many Apple advisors are asking people to restore their phones. This is so inconvenient and time consuming -AND- it wont solve the problem of indexing as your phone will have to do it all over again.

Just wait like I did and the phone will finish its tasks in the background when connected to WIFI.
