iBooks keeps crashing after upgrading to iOS 9

After upgrading my software on my iPad 2 to iOS 9.1 my iBooks keeps crashing. I can't even get it to open. I have tried all resets, restored factory settings and none of it worked. I have also noticed that my Apps store doesn't work properly after upgrading. I can't purchase anything from the store, it crashes as soon as I find the app I was searching for. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been frustrated with this problem for over a week now.

I had the similar problem with iPhone 6s and iOS 9.2.1. - iBooks closed itself in 3 seconds after opening the app. Resetting and restarting did not help.

I had some books previews (PDF) and after reading this thread, I went to iBooks to delete them, but after selecting the "thumbnail view" (upper right corner), these PDF's disappeared after few seconds. No more crasching after that.

I hope this works also for somebody else.
