iPhone 6s Distorted Sound

Hello All,

I have just received my iPhone 6S (iOS 9.0.1) and i'm really enjoying the new features, however I've noticed that when I have my Ringer Volume turned up full there is a slight crackling/distortion when playing sounds from the bottom external speaker.

The best way I've found to reproduce this issue is by going into settings, turning the ringer volume to full (having the ringer volume anything below full will stop the distortion) and then playing the ringtone "Opening", the speaker will make a minor distorting sound at the high points of the ringtone.

I've spoken to a friend who has a 6S Plus and they have reproduced the same issue, I would like to ask if anyone in the community could try the ringtone above and let me know if they get the same problems with the speaker?

Thanks in advance

Craig

Whilst the new software may address some issues, neither iOS 9.2 Beta 1 or 2 offers any improvement with regard to piano music. This is clearly a hardware fault which not evergone has discovered - unless they enjoy piano content. Perhaps this is why Apple have not considered a recall of defective devices because listeners are in the minority

Hi there,

  1. Music with classic guitar is also affected. There is a range of frequencies not supported by the iphone's speaker (from 75% to 100% volume.)
  2. The ringtones don't have distortion anymore with the 9.2 public beta1. >> So, APPLE made something to fix it... Perhaps the apps (youtube, spotify etc) are going to do the same thing...

The fact that both classical guitar and piano style music are on Apples very own iTunes, seems to conflict with the fact that the iPhone 6S is unable to play this type of music between 75-100%.

Also, Apple pride themselves on the 'recently launched' Music App - so it would be incredulous if their very own devices (e.g. iPhone) cannot play music properly.

Considering the cost of the device, Apple need to fit a speaker capable of playing music at ALL frequencies on their flagship iPhone.

I have been dealing with Apple Support for the past 4 weeks and their Technical Department. Strangely, no one from Apple has ever suggested that certain frequencies aren't supported by the iPhone 6S speaker.

I suspect that the iPhone speaker is designed and intended to support music at ALL frequencies (at all volume levels) but unfortunately, some faulty speaker units have found their way into the production line of the first batches - hence the reason why I am continually being sent replacement units.

If all iPhones were incapable of playing such frequencies, Apple would not send replacements and would simply confirm their inability to play such frequencies etc.

I suspect that there are perfect iPhones out there, but it is a lottery in trying to source them .....

Friends of the Apple forum, after 4 weeks waiting, I was contacted to go pick iPhone 6S, because I had sent mine to the guarantee due to the problem of distortion in the loudspeaker, as of course, they detected the distortion, and sent me a new one iPhone 6S (refurbished), and to my astonishment, when i was testing the iPhone in the store, i realize that.. IT COMES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM !!!! Immediately i demanded the return of the money paid for the iPhone! I AM DONE WITH APPLE UNTIL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM.

Not advise anyone to buy iphone 6s in the coming days, I advise everyone to hand over the iphones and ask for a refund until APPLE decide to admit the error and replace the defective component !! THIS IS A SHAME !!!!!
