Is anyone else having low signal strength with the new iPhone 6s?
Absolutely, I am having challenges. I had a 4s, which had much better reception. In my office, I had 75% signal and now I only have 1 bar. I can't use data and my calls have been dropped. I have a 5S as well, which sits right next to my 6s. The 5s has 4 bars, the 6s has 1. Two different carriers, but I never had the problem with the 4s!! I have tried with and without LTE on for voice.
APPLE, PLEASE HELP!

I have a 6s Plus. I also have been experiencing dropped calls and fluctuating signal strength. I have watched it drops from LTE to 4G and strength go from 4 bars to 1 bar to no service and back again. Never had this issue with my 6 Plus. My kids have a regular 6 and my wife has a 6 Plus. neither of their phones is experiencing the same issues and all phones are running the current iOS. Very frustrating!! I even called AT&T to see if it they were having service issues, the only solution they offered was to turn off HD voice service for my phone. Curious what service provider other have and, if different from AT&T, they are also experiencing these issues.
Yes, I am having an issue with a much lower signal strength on my new iPhone 6s as compared to my previous iPhone 4s. Apple technical support conducted a remote diagnostic procedure which concluded "no issues" with my iPhone 6s and pointed the finger at my carrier. I have made several calls to Verizon technical support which has, so far, not been able to resolve this issue. I visited a Verizon store today and had the SIM card replaced but this didn't seem to make any difference. I have been comparing signal strengths with my iPhone 4s using the Field Test Mode (Google for procedure) which displays an actual numerical value instead of signal bars or dots. Keep in mind that the numerical scale is not linear and the greater the negative reading, the worse the signal. In a side by side comparison at home, my iPhone 6s read at -114 dB (there is no cell signal beginning at -120 dB). At the same time, on the same network, my iPhone 4s read -78 dB. To date, my worst iPhone 6s reading has been -118 dB. I have not experienced any dropped calls but have had calls drop in and out and have had others tell me that they hear noise "artifacts" and tapping noises. There seems to be no problems with data reception, just voice calls. I have a few more days to return the phone under the Verizon 14 day satisfaction guarantee and hope there can be a solution by then. I hope this response has not been too technical.
Interesting observation…when LTE is completely disabled, the signal strength of my 3G only iPhone 4s and the new iPhone 6s are very close to each other. Apparently, the signal strengths of 3G and 4G LTE are not directly comparable as suggested in this technical forum.
I have restricted LTE to "Data" only in the cellular preferences and will see if this eliminates the occasional voice dropout I have been experiencing. By restricting voice to 3G, where it has proven to be 100% reliable for me in the past, I hope my problem will be resolved.
I'm seeing a similar issue. My 5S worked great in the house ... usually at least 3 bars in my home office which is in the basement. My new 6S is usually at one bar, but when I turn LTE off .. it jumps up to 2 bars in the basement and 3 solid bars upstairs.
Wondering is this is just an issue with this particular phone or if there is a software issue. My company is going to try a network extender, but I'm wondering if I should just try to exchange this phone for a new one.
Thanks.
Just got the 6s on Verizon and I'm having signal issues as well. I have an unstable connection everywhere I go. I average 2 bars of LTE in most places. At times it will drop down to 3G and then never return to LTE unless I toggle airplane mode on and off. Very frustrating...considering the fact that I switched from AT&T because of poor coverage. I hope this is just a software issue.
I was lucky enough yesterday to be able to compare my Verizon 4G-LTE signal strength against an identical iPhone 6s on the same network. The numbers were very close which leads me to believe that my specific phone is not defective. I read in another forum where someone exchanged a phone, without an improvement in signal dots/bars. Since restricting 4G-LTE to data only, I have not had any further voice quality issues. The Speedtest app verified that I am in fact getting 4G-LTE data download speeds in the upper range of 5-12 Mbps even while indicating a low signal strength.
After having AT&T turn off HD Voice, then having me switch to LTE data only, turn off LTE and finally resetting all network settings, I turned to Apple. Apple ran diagnostics, saw no problems and had me reset the phone to factory settings. They told me it must be an AT&T problem and maybe it was a bad Sim card. If the problem persisted I would have to take it to a store or authorized rep for further attention. As the closest store is 100 miles away, I was fortunate to find a service rep in our small town. Of course they could find no problems, even though I had screen captures of the varying service issues over the course of several minutes. They said to bring it back if the problem persisted as they could not recommend replacing until the phone actually failed a diagnostics test. Just for the heck of it, I had the Sim card replaced. I experienced a call drop 4 times on the way home. I called Apple again and after explaining everything I had done and emailing the tech my screen captures, including new ones from after the Sim card switch, I was passed to the next tier. The new tech said they would be sending me out a new replacement phone and gave instructions on how to return the current one. So far the new phone has had no dropped calls and signal strength seems to stay consistent with the other, older iPhones in the house.
Yes! I finally upgraded from a 4s and the signal strength goes in and out all the time. The 4s worked great the entire 4 years I had it. Definitely a disappointment. I've had a few times that the phone doesn't ring and goes straight to voicemail, seemingly due to signal strength issues.
Same problem here. At work my Iphone 4s was fine but my new iphone 6s is dropping calls, there is echo, people say they don't here all the words because of interruption. I took my girlfriend's old Iphone 4s at work to compare and the calls are excellent. I then tried a friend's iphone 6 and again everything is good. I will be returning this cell. I wonder if it's a lemon or if all these iphones are faulty. I'm scared of activating my girlfriend's new iphone 6s...
This is a follow up on my first thread. So I called my carrier and told him this issue. He said he sold tons of iphone 6s and had no come back with this issue. So I thought ok it might just be my iphone. I then decided to activate my girlfriend's iphones 6sj today october 16th. I am trying it at work right now and yes the same problem as mine. Weak signal, drop words during conversation(they don't hear all the words), echo... Remember I told you that we both had iphone 4s and had no issue for 4 years at work. This is not a coincidence. I bet the antenna is smaller or cheaper. I'll try and get the iphone 6 instead or maybe Galaxy S6.
So is this being worked on, Apple? I am having the same problem and my 4S was perfectly fine. This is unacceptable as someone who uses their mobile phone for both personal and work. Either fix it or I have to move to an Android device I suppose, this is not going to work.
I recently "upgraded" from a 5s to a 6s. Even when standing in one place, I am having problems where the person on the other end doesn't hear me or asks me to repeat words because I have "faded" out. And when sitting in my office and swiveling in my chair, I sometimes will have the person on the other end say they can't hear me. Never had this type of problem with the 5s. I'm beyond the two-week return period for Verizon. While the 6s is faster than the 5sand has some other good features, if it is not reliable as a phone, it is not much use to me.
I upgraded from 5s to 6s and my new phone has poor reception! I gave my old phone to my nephew and we can stand beside each other and his phone works perfectly my phone has poor reception. This is defiantly a hardware issue!! We upgraded 3 phones and all of the 6s have the same problem.
So why has nobody from Apple responded to this? Clearly this is a widespread problem, it needs to get fixed or people like us will jump ship. You would think they would get ahead of it and start working on a solution.
