How to Remove Advanced Mac Cleaner Virus

That method only removes the bit you can see, it leaves all the junk that AMC uses to actually run alone.

Do not follow this method.

Had the same problem as many others here. The http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php seems to have solved the problem (so far).🙂

I found out how to remove Advance Mac Cleaner here: what is advanced mac cleaner

Go to the folder with your username. Inside you should see the folder 'Library'. If you do not, go up to 'View' and select "Show View Options." Check "Show Library Folder." You should now see Library. Now just follow the instructions in the link above.

Re: Remove Mac Cleaner instructions . this is all well and good but one thing Ive learned is not to click on links that I don't know. So heres my question; Why can't you give instructions that take me through the operation on my Mac without clicking a link? I had only downloaded Flash and Skype (new Mac) so I think I know where where it came from. I see the application icon. Why can't I just trash it? Im a new Mac user and wonder if theres a way to see who the culprit is that snuck it in. on windows I can go to control panel and delete the downloaded program lock stock and barrel why all the contortions?

You need to ask yourself why you came to this forum in the first place. If you feel that it was a wise thing to do, I agree. The people here are hugely knowledgeable about Apple and the systems it operates.

If they recommennd a course of action you can be pretty sure it is sensible. Others would very quickly put the matter to rights otherwise. Have faith.

It was the phraseology that caught me.

Was Mac Cleaner one of the seven that came up ... or did he scan with Advanced Mac Cleaner and 7 came up?

It was the latter I was thinking ... but

Do not do anything with the pop ups, they're fake. The problem I'm having is removing it from my macbook. When I open my browser it's not my normal browser/favorites etc. It looks like a generic google search bar. When I search for something it pops up briefly to feed. chunck. app (spaces placed there on purpose) I had followed a link from my professor for class, and it redirected me to what looked like adobe, and said i needed a flash update, and then this mac keeper popped up. After that it's been saying I have problems, that I know I do not. So if I find a way to remove it, I'll share it here, but I've been looking for 24 hours now. Missing assignment dates and all, because I don't know what this thing can track or do with personal info, so I'm trying to stay off of important sites while on my laptop. If you find answers, please share.

Hubby has just downloaded AND paid for Advanced Mac Cleaner via a company called Paddle, I believe this to be a scam, please tell me if you think this is legit?

Please give me your thoughts on what to do now and if there is any chance of getting the money put back on his C Card. I think he is a numpty!!

Thank you! This virus has been on my computer for months and within a couple minutes the virus was found and deleted from my computer. Norton didn't work and Linc Davis' solution didn't work for me! This was super easy and super fast.

Thanks so much. I had to go into each folder and send each of these files to the Trash individually. Once that was done, I restarted my MacBook and now its GONE!!! Yay! Thanks for the Post! You saved me and Probably lots of others!
