iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage getting stuck

My iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage gets stuck frequently. Like for example, it will say 87% all day, and then I'll plug it in for an hour, and it will still say 87%.

The only fix I've found is to power the phone off and then turn it back on. Then the percentage will update correctly, and will usually continue to update properly for awhile. But eventually it gets stuck again.

In the 3 days since it was delivered on Friday, I've had to reboot my iPhone 6s Plus at least four times to fix this issue.

I Have noticed while charging when battery charging sign appear but percentage does not increase, by opening battery life app and then checking raw data there is showing following status:

Charging state: charging

discharge current: -100 ma

MAx charger current: 1000 ma.

there is no charging current in the list. When its working fine it show charging current: 900 ma.

please explain why this happen?

I did reply, but the forum software ate the reply.

It sounds like there is an intermittent connection in the connector on the bottom of the phone. Try cleaning it and inspecting it. If you don't see any damage or dirt the problem is inside, and there probably isn't much you can do about an almost 4 year old phone that would make economic sense.

Still facing the same issue of battery charging percentage not increasing. Now i came to know by notcing whats the real issue is? My phone inside having sumsung A9 processor. Its ran with more heat as compare to TSMC processor. By seeing on battery life app when the temperture is above 39 C at that time battery percentage will not increase. When temerature is low it will work fine and battery percentage increase without restart. Me and my friend purchased iphone 6s on same dae. His cell having TSMC processor and working fine. Heat level is also low 33 c while mine 39 C at the same atmosphere. So there is technical fault in iphone 6s. Please let this message to iphone enginer so they look into the issue and update ios for sumsung A9 processor.

Fix your iPhone battery’s stuck percentage

Apple has recognized the issue and is supposedly researching a fix that they will include in their next iOS update. On their own support page Apple states, “If you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn’t update.” So, that’s what they are saying could be the cause, but don’t have a software fix. So while we wait for that to get pushed out, we can do a little troubleshooting on our end.

  1. Make sure that your iPhone’s data and Wi-Fi are on and connected
  2. Open Settings -> General -> Date & Time
  3. Toggle the switch for Set Automatically Off and On again. The switch will turn gray, then green.
  4. Restart the iPhone by holding down the Sleep/Wake and Home button until you see the Apple logo

Once your device has restarted you should see the battery icon back to normal. Some users have also said that simply messing around with the date and time can also temporarily fix the error. Simply, toggle Set Automatically ON/OFF multiple times, or switch time zones as well.

If these steps do not work, well, here is what Apple says, “If this happens again and you didn’t change the time or time zone on your device, contact Apple Support. Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating the cause and a solution.”
