I clicked on my messages and i saw a moon next to one of my contacts looking at the list. i also am not getting notifications from that specific person when they send me a text message.

Howdy kenzielynnadams,
When viewing the list of messages in the Messages app, the crescent moon icon to the left of a conversation means that Do Not Disturb is enabled for that conversation. This can be turned on or off to mute or un-mute notifications for that conversation as desired. To access this setting, open the conversation and tap Details at the top right.
Keep it quiet. Tap Details, then turn on Do Not Disturb to mute notifications for the conversation.
