iPhone 6 Glass Screen Protectors do not work on 6s

Picked up my new iPhone 6s on Friday. Always have used glass screen protectors on all my iPhones. Currently have the Zagg HD Glass on my work phone (iPhone 6 Plus). Anyway, picked up new 6s, grabbed a Zagg Invisible Shield HD Glass protector. Went to apply it, and it will not seat the entire edge of the device. About 1/4" in from the edge towards the center, it leaves about 1/4" gap where you can visibly see the glass protector has not seated the glass all the way.

Long story short, 6 screen protectors later, tried using an off brand at the kiosk at a local mall, (made for iPhone 6), and same deal. Was at the Apple store earlier, and told that the glass in the 6s is the same exact curvature as the 6. Went back to the Apple store later that day, was told the curvature is completely different.

The gentleman who sold me the off brand protector at the mall kiosk said he had the same exact issue with a customer earlier that day, had them return the phone (6s) for a new one and he was able to apply the protector no problem. At this point I walked into the Apple store and was told that the curvature is different and need to wait for new protectors spec'd to fit the 6s.

I know Zagg makes the Glass Luxe for the 6s, but I am not a fan of the colors.

My question is, can anyone confirm the curvature of the glass is in fact different than the 6? I've applied numerous Zagg Glass protectors on my 6 and never has this issue.

The thread is iPhone 6 and 6s are the unique smartphones not compatible with the application of screen tempered glass protectors, without which the risk of screen damages is unacceptable. Some members of this Community declare they don’t mind but most of them do.

This is the true unique base for the discussion and what the Community members are managing with, but nobody who don't want should go on.

Hi guys,

Strange situation here!

I tried about 8 different Glass protectors on my iPhone 6S but none of them fitted correctly. (Air gaps around all edges)

However, my iphone developed a fault which meant every time I got a call or sms message there was just a loud buzzing from the speaker.

This is where it gets strange!! I got a replacement iPhone 6S from my provider in the UK as it was under 30 days old, and the glass protectors, well 2 of them I didn't throw away fit it with no air gaps around all sides???

This suggests that not all iPhone 6S models are created equally!

Hey Brian

That's the other thing. Previous iPhone 6s was a TSMC,

the new one is Samsung CPU.

I also noticed differences with Touch ID unlock being

slightly slower on the Samsung CPU but that isn't

bad thing!

All in all this new one feels more stable though battery

life is slightly reduced by about 10% for normal day, again not

rreally a problem for me!

cheers

Just switched to iPhone 6s Plus, discovered this issue of glass screen protectors not sticking at the edges. Wish I had known before. I love glass screen protectors, but the Zagg HD glass protector I just purchased has a "halo" around the edges where it does not adhere. Does anyone know of a specific brand that does make a glass screen protector that fits properly?

I went from a 6+ to a 6S+, using the Zagg Glass and even Luxe, without issue on my personal phone.

Though this problem showed up on my work iPhone 6S+, the effect was so minimal, it hasn't bothered me.

I do wonder how the Zagg Glass for 6 will work on the 7 though? Especially since I'm preparing to upgrade four iPhones this month! If they don't work, that's another $160!!! And then there are the cases....

But why spend the money?

A few years ago, there was a 3GS, with a cheap rubber case and Frogz protector on the screen. The phone fell out of it's holster, face down on the asphalt and was run over by a 4 ton SUV. The screen protector had rock holes in it, but the glass did not break or scratch, and even though the LCD broke, the phone was still operational.
