Is ATT throttling Apple Music??

For the last week or two, I've been virtually unable to stream Apple Music over AT&T LTE in southeastern Wisconsin. Everything else is super fast. A Speedtest routinely shows I can get 20Mbps. I thought maybe it was on Apple's end, but I never have I have trouble over WiFi. I do not have "High Quality over Cellular" enabled, though I'm kind of annoyed I can't even try it! Anyone else having issues? Any theories?

I had the most frustrating online chat with apple support last night. The rep told me he knows about this issue and is trained to fix it (dismissing the comments on this thread and others). So he tells me it's because I have 9.1 beta installed on my 6s. I set the phone up as new on 9.0.2 and the problem persists. So then he tells me its my sim card. When I point out to him that my other phone (iphone 6) has the same issue, he again blames the beta. When I point out that this makes no sense as I just proved on my 6s that the problem persists on a clean install of 9.0.2, he tells me that the iphone 6 has a different problem (What????). When I point out that both phones have the exact same issue, so it's probably not the sim or the beta software and other users are reporting the same thing here, he tells me the internet is just speculation and he's trained to fix this.

I basically ended the chat at that point. I'm getting AT&T to send me a new sim, just so I can satisfy this logically impaired support guy. Assuming that doesn't work, hopefully they will then escalate this issue at that point.

Good news! I updated to 9.0.2 last night with no luck resolving the problem. But this morning I got in the car and music is working better than it's ever worked. It works so good I thought maybe some songs got downloaded to my iPhone so I checked. Nope! It's streaming. I've been streaming all morning with absolutely no issues. I attempted an App Store download while streaming music and it was successful! The only issue I still have is getting Apple news app to work. However ironic, I was just charged for my Apple Music subscription. In any case I'm so happy I can again listen to music. Woot!

As noted in this thread, I have had the same problem as all of you.

On AT&T LTE, Apple Music will not stream properly.

This morning I tried to play an Apple Music radio station on LTE and it failed.

I went in to Settings--Cellular and turned LTE off. My phone established a 4G connection.

Then Apple Music worked flawlessly.

AT&T still needs to get their act together and fix this issue, obviously, but at least there seems to be a work-a-round.

If Apple has server farms in North Carolina - as mentioned in some old articles -- and your pathway from ATT through dedicated service lines to North Carolina are having problems because of the weather rolling through there - you will have problems connecting through ATT. Same is true if you are going to a server farm in a wester state where fires are. Your Wi-Fi is going through different pathways.

Those of you who have noticed now its working - and those of you who still have problems- go to a national weather site and check the maps.

A hurricane is coming to the east coast - - so thats more problems

With the break up of Bell Telephone it is now impossible to get the simple scoop on why you are having problems - with any connection.
