iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 9 major lag

Hello!

I just wanted to check how many of you have a bad and not stable/laggy experience with iOS 9 on your newer devices (iPhone 6 and 6 plus)? After I updated my phone a week ago, my phone feels like it was made at least 5 years ago performance wise. EVERYTHING is laggy. From scrolling, writing, opening and closing apps, animations, to the worst lagfest of them all - the new appswitcher. How is it possible that such a new device, iPhone 6 Plus, performs in such a horrible way with the new iOS? Do you guys know if Apple has acknowledged this problem? I can't seem to find anything online stating this fact except for same threads as mine. This is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. We've reached all the way up to iOS 9 and Apple should not release such a poor excuse of an iOS to the public in such a manner. Furthermore this problem doesn't seem to be exclusive for the phones as I am experiencing exactly what was mentioned above on my iPad mini 2.

Does anybody have some insight into this problem?

I have the exact same issue with my iPhone 6 Plus 128GB model. After doing a full restore using the ipsw files for iOS 9, iOS 9.0.1 they still have not been fixed. Performance with the OS, Apple apps and third party apps is so lagged and brutal that I hate using or even looking at my phone. I feel like I've been ripped off by Apple at this point. I've contacted their support twice and now that iOS 9.0.2 has been released I'll be doing a fresh restore using that ipsw. If it still isn't improved I'll be calling for a third time tomorrow.

I'm having the same exact problems and have been since upgrading to iOS 9. I've restored from factory at least 3 times and still have the same lag issues. I'm so sick of being told "Oh, just disable the accessibility features..." I absolutely worship Apple but, Jesus Christ, I'm sick of issues every time they release a new major upgrade!

The answer is easy. Apple has been so keen on making more profits they cheap out by shipping iPhone 6+ phones with the same amount of RAM as the 3-year-old iPhone 5. Also, iOS 9 does a lot of activities in the background (constant spotlight indexing and SIRI suggestions' processing to name a few). The phone just cannot cope with it without stuttering. Even the previous versions of iOS were not running so smoothly on iPhone 6+ phones. Apple already knows this and I don't think any future iOS 9.X update would fix this problem unless they disable certain features or processes that run in the background. To me, workarounds like disabling the transparency effect or Siri suggestions doesn't make any sense, especially knowing that we're talking about a 1-year-old phone with a $1000 price tag.

IPhone 6 has the same amount of ram and no laggy issues. iPhone 6+ is only suffering device, as far as I have tested them. The only difference between the devices is pixel count, everything else is the same. I don't think it's the ram issue.

EDited: Just tested RAM usage with siri suggestions and transparency enabled and disabled - only 60mb difference. So it's down to animation that the chip can't handle due to increased pixel count. I would assume Apple has to optimize animation better for bigger device.

I was in love with my iPhone 6 Plus until 9.0. Now I feel like I have an old Android phone. The smooth transitions and speed is absolutely what sets iOS apart from the rest. I read that it has something to do with iOS running natively at 750p and then upscaling to 1080p on the 6 Plus. IDK what most of that means but I expected way more quality control from Apple. I guess what people are saying is true. Apple is resting on their laurels.

Since first posting in this thread, I turned off transparency and that seemed to have cured the lag for the most part on my iPhone 6 Plus 16GB (iOS 9.1). Yeah, it's not athstetically pleasing, but whatever. If rather have my device perform over looking good. Still having an issue where quick-reply text gets hung up and almost impossible to use. Not sure if that's an app issue or iOS. Still very frustrating to be so unreliable. But now I'm experiencing an issue where my device crashes. The screen turns blank and hardly responds. I have to turn off and back on for it to work "properly" again. I had to restart my device 4 times yesterday. And also the still disappearing keyboard is a problem. Anyone else experiencing these issues? This is by far the worst user experience I've ever had on any iPhone I've ever owned going back to my 3G!

Apple, are you even listening?!?

Finally, I tried second 9.2 beta and no more lag. Seems like next 9.2 GM update will fix the lag issue. If you want to try it, make sure you backup first, in case you would want to switch back to 9.1. Also it takes couple of hours for lag to go away after installation, for some reason. App switcher and message notifications from the top no longer lag, as well as keyboard popup is fluid.

Everything everyone has said here is exactly the same experience I am having on my 6 Plus 128gb. I feel like the lag problems have been happening for a while and have definitely seemed to actually get worse with each new iteration of the iOS. I am at the point now where there are decent stretches of many seconds where my phone will not even respond to touches on the screen or the home button. When suddenly it will "catch up".

As has been stated here many times over, this situation really is disgraceful. I believe that (like him or hate him) Steve Jobs, is probably rolling over in his grave right now knowing that his company is putting out what can only be described as a "Sub-Par" product. I truly believe it's something he would not have stood for. His absence becomes more and more pronounced as time passes.

I have been an iPhone user for many years now, and I am even an Apple Watch owner. For most of that time, I was happy with my choice. But lately with these laggy bug issues and the seeming lack of interest in acknowledging or solving them on Apple's part, the only thing keeping me holding on is the fact that I am so entrenched with the applications that I use. At this point, If I thought that a Windows phone would have all of the applications that I enjoy on my iPhone, I would probably jump ship. I am a PC guy in general anyways.

Until now I have really had nothing bad to say about my Apple products, because they used to ALWAYS work... THAT was the real draw and charm of all of the iPods, iPhones, iPads I have owned (and it's quite a few). The bells and whistles have been great and they make it fun... but the fact that I could DEPEND on my phone to ALWAYS work, was the real "WIN" for Apple.

Bottom line... They aren't "WINNING" any more...
