The iPhone could not be restored. An Unknown error occured ( -1)

Hi All.

My iPhone4S is stuck in the DFU mode all the time. Itunes is 12.3. Am always trying to restore the iPhone to IOS 9.0.1 latest update.

Did an erase all data and settings , then an update and restore, but keep getting this error.

Done some research and diagnostics, so uninstalled firewall and antivirus, and turned off windows defender and windows firewall.

Also Windows 7 is upto date.

Anyone else having this issue in the UK and Rest of the world.? Or has found a workaround.

This is all occurred because my carrier option dissapeared and the sim card was no longer recognised.

The sim card is fine and my mobile network has no issues. My simcard works in another smart phone.

iTunes diagnostic report says

Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.

The network connection timed out.

Also I have screenshots of iPhone when carrier option in settings dissappeared.

can supply notepad of diagnostic too.

I tried to update and restore again in a Apple MAc but that too did not work, and gave an error.

The firmware loads onto the iPhone, but at the end when the loading scroll bar reached the end, it gives an error.

I have done this procedure previously on IOS version in the past and it works all the time , and on the first attempts, but for this IOS 9.0.1 it does not work at all.

I sign into iTunes and it connects to the store.

I have also emailed the ISP and they say iTunes servers are not filtered or blocked.

NO Apple stores here locally.

I used the same server IP that timed out for the firmware server update and also did a tracert ( trace route ),

and guess what , it could not get there in 30 hops and did not reach the destination at all. Apple servers are running, but not the firmware update one that I can reach. If its working for others, I know of 4 other iPhone users who can no longer use their mobiles anymore.

There is no Jailbreak and no baseband Chip malfunction with all of these. Its too much of a coincidence for that in the last few days.

The powers of deduction Dr Watson. Maybe Professor Moriarty is loose on the net.

Not enough port conections to handle the amount of requests.

Maybe the ISP and governments and network admin think its some sort of DDOS.

Shall we look for excuses there,........hmmmm .

More scapegoats.

Keep trying with your Jailbreak excuse as that is not the case. Hosts file is empty and the dns is flushed.

Just wait for the firmware update server to be free to handle more requests.

Plan on waiting for years, because there is no problem with the servers. They are still working, and still processing updates, as I updated 2 additional devices with no problems today. If there's a problem it's with your router, your ISP or other network issue. But you are, of course, free to believe whatever you want. Or you could just take it to an Apple store and they will be happy to update it for you.
