Display driver stopped responding and has recovered Error

Is there anything i can do other than wait for an new driver to be released? Is there a beta driver that I can try to see if it fixes the problem?

I just found a slightly newer driver at the intel site that is newer than the one that you get when you check for a new driver in the graphics pane in windows 10-64

64bit - win64_15407.4279.exe

but the problem remains exactly the same as before 3 restarts of the driver and then the driver is locked out

The take from other support websites puts the blame squarely on the Iris driver so I asked at the Intel Iris support forum if there was a Beta version that can fix this problem that is available to test yet. the sense I get there is that I have to get what I need from a bootcamp update from Apple

How do I revert to the driver in bootcamp to see if it will fix the problem?

in the same way... Should I try the driver from Microsoft that comes with Win 10-64 if so how do I force its use rather than the intel 4279 driver

Are you on W10? If yes, use OSX BCA and download the BC6 drivers package. Run setup.exe and let it Repair drivers. Be aware that it will repair other drivers as well.

LLots of good reasons to keep multiple different backups including one that is rotated to off site safe (as in a fire rated {digital rated} safe or file cabinet ) storage once every few days.

I have to report that Windows ten bootcamp on the Mac mini keeps overwriting the needed Apple modifyed iris graphics drivers with new ones from Intel.

for things like Microsoft Office this is not a problem but many games ( and lots of us that run bootcamp do use it for games) wiill toss up the error that I detailed in the first post in this thread and I have to redo the replacement of the Apple modified iris graphics drivers each time I want to play...

as far as I can see the only fix for this that will take is fro Apple to provide a new version of the iris driver package for Windows 10 that will prevent Windows update from replacing it.. Or for Microsoft to respect the Apple modified bootcamp drivers and not replace them. I have no idea about how I can get Apple or Microsoft to make the needed changes but perhaps having the information in this thread will help others that bang their head against this wall.

I Have set it again I thought I did it last time but the update did it to me again yesterday... It would be nice if I could just disable the updating for the iris driver but it seems to be all or nothing with Windows update.

i Did some digging on Microsoft sites and looks like where OEM hardware drivers are required the win updates should respect them so in theory the win update should respect the bootcamp drivers but it is not working right now if that is the case

this thread has lasted a long time but I thought it would be useful to update it with this lates wrinkle to the problem... It might help others that find that error message

cheers

Well it did it again this week. I now go and make a free thumb drive via bootcamp Assistant each time I am going to spend some time in Windows 10.

I don't know enough about windows to not let it handle its own updaters and patches... so I just launch the BCA and have it make a fresh install thumb drive while I deal with my email on OS X then I hit the bootcamp and do some thing else for about 5 min to be sure that win 10 has done what it needs to do for the day and restart win 10 just in case it has done something i then run the thumb drive utility and restart win 10 again and I am good for that day anyway. I do wish there was a way of knowing when Apple updates what it puts on the thumb drive. but for now this is the best i can do
