IOS 9 and GPS - are there issues?

Since upgrading my iPhone 6 to IOS 9 (and ultimately IOS 9.0.1 I have experienced issues with my GPS. I use Motion X GPS while in the car and up until the change to IOS 9 it has been reliable and rarely (if ever) dropped out even in the centre of cities. Now I have the situation where it takes quite a while to acquire GPS satellites and the connection breaks after a few minutes / miles and a reboot of the program is required to re-acquire a GPS Satellite signal only to drop out again a few minutes later. Has anyone else experienced this or is it a fault with Motion X GPS?

The worst is what the Genius bar offered as a solution:

- We don't understand why this happens...

- It's definitively some conflict with some of your app...in fact when you initialize your phone it works

- We suggest you to spend 299$ to replace your iPhone6!

When I asked...what about if I restore my profile from iTunes on this NEW phone and I get the same situation...

and the answer is: IT SHOULD NO HAPPEN!!!

this is ridiculuous, that Apple doesn't rcognize the problem and provide a fix...too many people!

Did some more research on the issue and everything links back to this specific part. I found the part on eBay and Amazon. I'm gonna order the part off Amazon and try to fix it myself. Everyone is saying that it is a relatively easy replacement so i'm gonna give it a go. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.

P.S. The part I found on Amazon is $5.98 USD and it comes with two little screw drivers. Here's the link if anyone wants to attempt to fix the problem

I Started having the gps problem about 10 days ago across all navigation maps . Finally made a genius bar visit. They determined it was a hardware issue and gave me a new one. Im afraid to download google maps or waze thinking it my start the problem again. At the time of the problem i also started using the scosche car mount, it attaches by magnets, might this cause the internal antenna to shift or fry????

I didn't want to do this repair on my own so i gave my phone to Boston iphone repair in harvard square. They also have a fix by mail program. they replaced both of the antennas for $63 and solved the problem.

If you have GPS problem either follow the hardware fix instructions that several have posted and fix your own phone or take it to your local UNAUTHORIZED iphone repair person. Apple genius bar is worthless. As far as i'm concerned Apple owes me $63.

Same issue here... what I read from the posts are GPS chip is heating up and then malfunctioning. I think this could be the source of the issue as I use my iPhone6 in middle east. I took a ride today and temperature was around 50 C. Motion GPS work for an hour and stop working. I tried everyhing inluding soft, hard reset closing all other applications pus bluetooth but it did not help.

When I looked at the tech specs, unfortunately it is not designed to operate in hot weather environments. This is really sad.

Environmental Requirements

Operating ambient temperature:32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)

Nonoperating temperature:-4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C)

Relative humidity:5% to 95% noncondensing

Operating altitude:tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)

I was also experiencing the same issues after installing iOS 9 when it came out. My phones GPS always said it could not locate a satellite while using GPS apps like Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps as well as no longer showing my location in the Find My Friends app. My wifi strength was getting really bad and my Bluetooth connected devices would not stay connected unless my phone was right by it.

I tried everything and nothing work so I finally decided to replace the Wifi Antenna Signal Flex cable after I found this discussion. After installing earlier today and testing it all day, I can confirm that this fixed my GPS, Wifi, and Bluetooth issues. I followed the guide from IFixIt and the installation was pretty easy and straight forward.

I ordered my replacement cable from Amazon for about $6: http://www.amazon.com/Original-Iphone-Antenna-Signal-Ribbon/dp/B00YCKU3XS?ie=UTF 8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01

And also ordered this phone tool kit that had everything I needed: http://www.amazon.com/Cell-Phone-Repair-Tools-Screwdriver/dp/B00LLLPRKK?ie=UTF8& psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpa…

So for around $20 and about an hour for the whole installation process my issue is now fixed. Hope this helps for anyone who was on the fence about trying this fix.
