IOS 9 and GPS - are there issues?

NNow that I've seen this thread i feel better. I'm having the same issues. I've been expierence get no GPS coverage for the last six days since updating my iOS and I've been on the phone with my service provider, Google, Apple, and uber trying to figure out what the **** is going on. Now my only option is to deal with Apple cause it seems it's their issue. I need my GPS directly for the work I do and this issue is costing me money

If your phone was within it's manufacturer warranty, then this service would be of no cost to you by having it done through Apple. If your warranty ran out before this issue occurred, then any Apple parts that may have gone bad are up to you to service the cost of the repair. This is the definition of what a warranty is. Apple does not owe you $63 for a product if it was outside of its warranty.

Agreed. I have read through all posts and not once has Apple replied or made an effort to communicate the problem. I have also scoured the internet there is no official mention of this problem. I have just updated my software to 9.3.2 and still no luck. I have also tried all suggestions currently posted and nothing. Does anyone have any advise as to how to fix this problem pleeeaaase?

Add me to this list (is there a list somewhere?) - My iphone 6 GPS stopped working 15 days ago. Tried all options no success. Went to Apple store and met a really rude manager (Nashua, NH). Essentially what Apple is telling me is

1) That their manufacturing process is so bad, if you don't buy AppleCare (after dropping 750 on a new phone) you are stupid.

2) "Only" GPS is not working ... everything else works ... Why am I making a big deal out of it

Device: iPhone 6

Problem: GPS working sporadically (mostly not working, only a position fix with a large blue area -sometimes km-, rendering it unusable)

I changed with a friend of mine who knows how to dismantle the iphone (tedious work, but no pitfalls) the 'wifi flex cable' and the cover (just in case, but I think the part responsible for the fix is the flex cable).

Problem was fixed.

PS: A thought was that perhaps the part of the flex cable that 'attaches' (it has some kind of glue?) onto the back plate, might amplify the signal and due to some falls of the phone, the previous flex cable came off and the signal would be weak.

Ah ha this is what worked for me - I went to Apple store thye punted me to ATT&T who punted me back to Apple...totally as expected..then..wait for it

My friend suggested I take off the leather case on my phone and it worked..the case was worn and had hand oils from a year so it looks like that blocked the gps signal....who knew?

So I was having this issue too for a while. I did everything from reseting the location and privacy, resetting all settings, resetting to manufacturers settings. When I restored the iPhone 6 Plus back to default, it seemed to fix the problem, then the GPS wasn't as reliable, it wouldn't pin point my exact location, just a general area, which isn't enough when using navigation like Maps or Waze. What I learned after trial and error was that you can just reset the regular settings (not reset to factory settings). After you reset the regular settings, turn on location services, open Maps, and the GPS should work now. I already learned that once you turn the bluetooth off and Wi-Fi off, it will mess up the GPS again and you have to reset the settings again. I'm still going to Apple to swap out my iPhone but this fix works in the short-term at least.

I had a similar problem. My Apple Maps and Google Maps work fine when I'm connected to wifi. But on cellular data, none of the navigation apps worked. Apple Tech Support and multiple "Geniuses" were stumped. Then I stumbled on this and it worked!:

SETTINGS>PRIVACY>LOCATION SERVICES>make sure Location Services is toggled ON. Then in the middle of this screen: SHARE MY LOCATION>make sure Share My Location is toggled ON. If you found any of these to be toggled OFF then that was your problem (just like me).

Now my Apple Maps and Google Maps work just fine. Hope it works for you too!

I had the same problem with intermittent GPS and the GPS not getting accurate location. Frequently the location was incorrect or the map program kept saying "locating". After going to the Apple store for a diagnosis and doing all the software and hardware resets listed by others, the problem still existed. The option they gave was to replace the entire phone for $299. I then did had a person replace the Wifi flex cable as described here and that fixed the problem. This seems to be a common problem with Iphone 6's as the connection from the GPS to the main circuit board seems to be a weak link and breaks easily. I think Apple should cover and replace these under extended warranty since it was poorly designed and should be a manufacturing defect.

Apple should offer a repair program rather than a replace program since the repair is a simple repair in experienced hands. It's like buying a Mercedes for $60000 and then when it's out of warranty and a small cable breaks, they say they can give you a replacement car but it'll cost you $29900 instead of repairing the broken cable.

Had same problem with my wife iPhone 6 64 gb.

I did next recommendations and had no luck.

- soft reboot

- reset network settings

- turn off location settings / reboot / turn back on

After that I tried to do that:

Step 1

Shutdown all active applications

Go to:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy

After privacy reset, reboot your iPhone.

Step 2

Go to:

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services

Switch off next options:

HomeKit: Off

Location-Based Alerts: Off

Location-Based Apple Ads: Off

Location-Based Suggestions: Off

Wi-Fi Networking: Off

Frequent Locations: Off

Diagnostic & Usage: Off

Popular Near Me: Off

Routing and Traffic: Off

Check your GPS.

I have been having this same issue with the phone, regardless of the IOS system. Waze, Google Maps, Maps all of it would "lose" me. I was also noticing issues with my Wifi signal and Bluetooth connection. I took it to the Genius Bar for a diagnosis and they said it was all fine. Just recently, I took to a computer guy to replace my cracked screen and he suggested he replace the F Antenna. The replacement took about 25 minutes and sure enough, ALL of it was immediately better and superfast. I would bet Apple has/had an issue with some bad antenna's either faltering or not fastened. If you are having this issue, there are tutorials online on how to do it, but if you know someone that is familiar with this fix, it worked for me and was a $50 repair.
