Yes i did this with support.

They told me, that he is not seeing an HW related issue.

But i should go to the store. They can deeper examine the phone.

Today i went to the store and got a replacement.

Hope its gone now.

But on my issued phone i saw same memory related issues as you.

So personally i think it is software / os related problem.

I went to the store today for the second time in two weeks. They told me that I need to wipe the phone and start fresh. They said the issue had to do with bringing in my apps, contacts, music, etc. in from the backup of my old phone. They did not offer to replace my phone.

Has anyone tried to "Reset All Content and Settings" under Setting -->General? Essentially, they told me to start fresh and not bring in anything from my old backup and that that's why it's crashing. Has everyone who is experiencing this brought in information from a backup?

The standard response at the Apple Store, particularly when they are very busy, is to run a diagnostic on the phone to try to detect a hardware issue or not. If you've done a restore from a previous phone, the standard suggestion seems to be "configure the phone as new, don't do a restore from a previous backup... move your data manually". If still get the problem come back.

IN my case, iPhone 6s, T-Mobile, 128gb, iOS 9.0.2 restored from an iPhone 4s (iOS 6), the crashes were consistent... the process 'SpringBoard' would crash often, but not always, when switching between apps. I pointed this out at the Apple Store but the techie looking at my phone was unable to say anything about the crash logs... going as far as suggesting they were normal... true, some logs such as JetsamEvent, CoreTime, log-aggregated, ResetCounter are normal... but not the SpringBoard log that reveal a hard crash leading to a reboot of the phone.

I fiddled and fiddled with my configuration settings and now my phone is running ok... no crashes whatsoever since last saturday... I am still running with a restore from my old iPhone 4s - iOS 6 backup and everything appears solid now. My situation was a little different, ie., no spontaneous crashes rather they would occur only when switching between apps, and only a fraction of the time. For those undergoing the spontaneous freezes, presumably crashes, possibly combined with the home button heating up, it would be interesting and useful to see if any crash logs are produced and what do they indicate... May have to call Apple Support for better help, hopefully, in seeing what the crash logs reveal.

I think I have the WORST case out of this entire thread and I'm completely devastated. I have the iPhone 6S Plus 64GB (launch day phone). Last night put the phone to charge before going to bed (phone is functioning 100% fine before charging). Woke up this morning late to work since my iPhone's alarm didn't go off. I thought it was a strange thing and decided to unplug it from the charger and found the phone to be completely unresponsive. Not only did holding the sleep/wake + home button not work (I even held it down for A MINUTE!) but plugging the phone into my computer while iTunes was open and while holding down the home button did not work either (advice of the Apple Specialist over the phone). My phone is completely dead, 100% bricked it looks like. The worst part is that I had photos on there for my college project that weren't backed up to iCloud and I fear that I can no longer retrieve them. At least people on this thread were lucky enough to have their phones reboot. Mine unfortunately is gone. Keep in mind that I also baby my electronics and this phone was no exception. Forget about water damage, I never even dropped this thing on carpet. I have an appointment made at an Apple Store and hopefully something can be done about this issue.

My iPhone 6S+64 GB/ 9.02 has just turned 9 days old and for the first time I found it dead in the morning. Fortunately it's a Sunday so I did not overslept. Hard reset helped however checking the log files did not bring any clues. Reading all these posts here indicates it's a software issue and I will try to switch off all the apps before going to bed tonight and if that won't help I will do the fresh restore. The original restore was done from 5S back up.
