Hi, Muzicman.

There is a waves plugins folder in the Applications folder.

The components, the part of the plugin that actually runs the plugin, are located Mac Hd>library>Audio> components. If you open this folder you will see a .component file for each plugin. Waves is called WaveShell-AU with a number say 9.3 or 9.61. Look in that folder and see if there are duplicates.

also make sure that you have the latest version of Waves 9.30 on their web site.

Also be aware that waves does not yet work on El Capitan

hope this helps,

Probably a good idea to avoid WAVES plug-ins. I hate companies that don't adopt their software to new Operating Systems in a timely manner. In my case I will probably try reinstalling my OS 10 - Yosemite after wiping my El Capitan drive. Then, I'll see if I can get my plug-ins to work, again after updating to OS 10.11.1, with everything in place and working.

Hi, Art.

I just received an email from Arturia stating that all their plugins are now compatible with El Capitan.

Waves also have a message on their web site stating that "Compatibility with OS X 10.11 has been tested and confirmed."

You may already have this info. If not, please add to your list and thank you for taking the time to help the community with this.

So, I spent last weekend wiping my HD and installing my back-up OS Yosemite and carefully updating to OS 10.11.1 (El Capitan). Noting to myself, "don't touch or breath on the WAVES plug-ins and maybe they will continue to work." Every other plug-in I have from many different software companies are working just fine in El Captian. WAVES is the problem child. Nice to know they are compatible, because I've wasted a great deal of time to make them compatible. Then I saw where they had a NEW and supposedly IMPROVED Waves Central app. When I installed it and got the message:

Thank you WAVES for being such a reasonably priced and dependable software product for digital editing and recording.😠

Muzicman.

Waves Central is a new version of the Waves Licence Centre. The registration tool used to authorise Waves plugin licences.

If you have backups, then restore wlc (your latest version) and that should allow a licence transfer to your machine. Alternatively, put your waves licences onto a usb stick via wlc and then they will be valid for any machine you use, and multiple partitions on that machine.

I've gone the usb route and the Waves licences are recognised by either 10.8.5 or Yosemite. (Although I think Yosemite is somewhat dodgy)

Hope this helps,

WAVES will not allow the older wlc to work. I got the Waves Central to work and it destroyed all my old WAVES 9.3 plug-ins. So, I basically have no other choice than to pay $500 to upgrade my older plugins to 9.6. This is exactly what these kind of companies do to their clients. We have a new control center, so your old licenses are NO good!!

Once again, thank you WAVES for a crappy system and a lousy deal for anyone that buys your products.

Unbelievable!!

Is it your belief that iZotope RX5 is not working with 10.11.1 ??

Hi Murray,

At this time, from what i have heard.. All iZotope plugins are still somewhat unstable and certain functions remain...err.. non-functional.... under 10.11.1

Also..

iZotope themselves are still warning against updating to El Cap currently (As of earlier today at least!)

Current Status

Our engineering teams are actively working to address the following known issues:

  1. Plug-ins may not be able to pass AU (Audio Units) validation, which means they will not load in hosts that support the AU plug-in format.
  2. Dialog windows within the plug-in (such as the "Do you want to overwrite?" window in the Preset Browser) may no longer appear.

Timeline for El Capitan Support

iZotope will address compatibility issues for the products listed below, and will release new updates by end of November.

Cheers..

Hi Muzicman.

If the $500 is for the waves update plan, you could check the selection page where you buy the update plan. There is a check box that asks if you only use the plugins on one computer at a time. If you check this, the total cost - no matter how many upgrades you need - will be capped at $300.

I'm also surprised that you need to pay to u/grade from 9.3 to 9.6. Can you call the waves distributor in your country and have a chat with them on these issues?

The people in my country are always helpful. They may have solutions to your problems that don't cost $500.

I hope you get it sorted and get back to making hassle free music.
