how do I transfer old voice memos from itunes to my new iphone?

I just got the new iPhone 6s. On my old iPhone 5 I had a bunch of voice memos stored on the phone and they were synced to iTunes so that I could play them back from my phone or my computer. Now that I have my new iPhone, the old voice memos I had are not showing up in the voice memos app on the phone - only in iTunes. How do I move them from iTunes to the new phone? I thought they would just sync automatically but they are not.

Thanks!

iPhone 6s, Windows 10

I called Apple Support. Unfortunately, voice memos do not sync back into your Voice Memos app. The only way to get the voice memos back onto your phone is to send them to yourself via email and open them on your phone. When you change phones, the voice memos do get backed up but they become part of your music library via iTunes. This is fine if you only want to listen to the file but not helpful if you want to send the file to anyone.

Work-around:

Open iTunes, go to your Music library, sort by Artist and find your phone's name, e.g. "John's iPhone 5". The voice memos will be listed there. Select the voice memo you want, right click it, select Show in Windows Explorer, find the file in Explorer, attach the file to an email, send it to yourself, open it on your phone. From there you can send it to your recipient via text or email.
