how do I transfer old voice memos from itunes to my new iphone?

It wasn't! But it is now. Thank you!

I checked the box, hit Apply. Hit Sync. Still not showing up in the app on the phone. I'm going to try hard-restarting my phone as soon as I finish the call I'm on.

I turned off my phone, then turned it back on. Re-synced. No voice memos.

I hard-restarted, re-synced with iTunes. Still no voice memos.

The check-box for Include Voice Memos is checked. I see the voice memos in my Music Library under Artist iPhone 5, but not in the actual Voice Memos app. 😕

I called Apple Support. Unfortunately, voice memos do not sync back into your Voice Memos app. The only way to get the voice memos back onto your phone is to send them to yourself via email and open them on your phone. When you change phones, the voice memos do get backed up but they become part of your music library via iTunes. This is fine if you only want to listen to the file but not helpful if you want to send the file to anyone.

Work-around:

Open iTunes, go to your Music library, sort by Artist and find your phone's name, e.g. "John's iPhone 5". The voice memos will be listed there. Select the voice memo you want, right click it, select Show in Windows Explorer, find the file in Explorer, attach the file to an email, send it to yourself, open it on your phone. From there you can send it to your recipient via text or email.
