How do I turn on my monitor camera?

I cannot seem to find software anywhere on my computer which is running Yosemite control the camera that is on my LED cinema display. At one point I was able to use PhotoBooth but must have disabled the camera. I'd like to take a look at the status of the camera and have the ability to use the camera once in a while of I want to. I'm aware of the security concerns, which is why I want to be able to control it. What should I be looking for and can I reinstall it somehow?

Any application that uses a camera should have a setting to choose which camera to use. Check the Camera menu in Photo Booth.

QuickTime Player has a camera selection V next to the Record button when you use "New Movie Recording" from its File menu.

If you need to use an app that has no camera setting, try start another camera app first. With one camera in use, the second app will have to use the other.
