Having a reliability issue while using airplay with el capitan to apple tv 3! it will either work after a long delay (and not turn off) or won't work at all. My iPhone 6S iOS 9.0.2 works fine with airplay and my home network is not an issue. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm having the same issue. I spent an hour and half on the phone working with Apple support, while he went through this discussion stream, only to have him log a ticket with the "higher ups". Waiting to hear back. I'll keep you posted....

recently upgraded to El Capitan and have same issue on MBP mid 2012. I solved problem by resetting PROM. shutdown MBP wait for minute. Hold keys: cmd + option + p + R and power on MBP wait for full white bright screen and release the keys.. boom it worked.

I had the same problem with my MBA 13 'and Apple TV4. I solved it by turning off the firewall that is included with OS X. I was clicked the box ¨Block all incoming connections¨.

2 years later , none of the prpoposed solutionsworked for me. I vave this problem since I updated to El Capitan. Worked fine with yosemite. Sierra doesn't help

2. Shutdown waited for a minute. Hold keys: cmd + option + p + R and power on MBP wait for full white bright screen and release the keys.

Hello All, I too have this issue, i can play from all devices, even iTunes but when I try to mirror the screen to play a movie the the mac identifies AIRPLAY OFF... I have tried all suggestions from this support blog to no avail... However a $9 app called Air Parrot works perfectly... I will run this app until Apple get their stuff together ONCE AGAIN...!!!
2 laptops, one running Yosemite has AirPlay working but the other running El Capitan does not show AirPlay.
Good job Apple. Luckily Microsoft taught us the lesson already.
