Airplay issue with El Capitan

Having a reliability issue while using airplay with el capitan to apple tv 3! it will either work after a long delay (and not turn off) or won't work at all. My iPhone 6S iOS 9.0.2 works fine with airplay and my home network is not an issue. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a similar issue with my MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) on El Capitan. I can connect to my Apple TV 3 (I copy the screen) but it's still not usable: slow framerate and the sound is "cut". I tried the old tips (disconnect the bluetooth for example) but nothing fix the problem.

Does Apple try their features?

PS: The AirPlay works fine with my iPhone 5s and my iPad Mini 2 Retina (both on iOS 9.0.2).

My Airplay won't work with El Capitan either, granted its my first time attempting to set up the feature. But strangely it DOES work through iTunes, is anyone else sharing this coincidence?

Like many posts I've read, my Airplay option for Chrome is constantly set to "Off" in my display preferences, no matter what I try, its always Off. Annoying bc everythings 'apparently' up to date, shared wifi network etc. Sooo frustrating. Any ideas?

Same issue: choppy audio. have tried changing settings on firewall and turned it off completely. Updated software on AppleTV. No luck. Is Apple going to respond to this? It didn't work on Yosemite either. I was hoping El Capitan would fix the issue.

After reading the post about iTunes working on a PC, I turned on iTunes on my Mac and low and behold - audio streams just fine. It only streaming audio or video by turning AirPlay on in the top menu.

Someone get Apple to fix this!

Had the same issue.

The Apple TV update over the internet was not working either.

To sort out I had to:

  1. Disconnect power for Apple TV and HDMI (Connection to TV)
  2. Connect MacBook Air (Or other Mac) to Apple TV 3rdGen (USB x Micro USB cable)
  3. Open ITunes and connect power cable.
  4. Chose Restore when prompted.

Itunes now will download the file and install latest update on Apple TV. When this process is over you'll be told to connect your Apple TV to the TV.

Now you:

  1. Disconnect Power cable from Apple TV
  2. Disconnect Micro USB cable (connection to computer)
  3. Connect HDMI cable or equivalent and power up Apple TV by connecting power cable
  4. Go over the menus when prompted, enter your wi-fi access data.

You now should be able to mirror your desktop again.

Good luck
