Sync iOS 9.0.2 with iTunes 11.4?

When iOS 9 was released, there was a problem where you could update your iOS device via iTunes 11.4 on Snow Leopard, but after the update, the ios device could no longer be recognized by iTunes. The fix was to downgrade back to iOS 8, and then upgrade your iOS device to 9 via wi-fi. Your iOS device will then connect to iTunes 11.4 successfully.

I didn't do the 9.0.1 update. Does anyone know if Apple did anything to correct this problem in either that one or the new 9.0.2 update? Or, should I stick with the wi-fi update?

Thanks!

iPad Air Wi-Fi, iOS 7.1.2

Uh, that "solution" sounds misinterpreted to me. The issue is iOS9 requires iTunes 12.3. It doesn't matter how iOS9 gets on the device, once it is there the device requires iTunes 12.3.

Apple doesn't see it as a problem; nothing to correct. They see it as no longer supporting obsolete equipment. Actually you've been lucky with iTunes so far. Everything else Apple develops long abandoned OSX 10.6. A general rule is about 5 years and then support strongly diminishes. Getting 7 years of supported iTunes is a good run.

Yeah, Apple just don't get it that they don't get it ... why bother to design such a reliable and mesmerizing devices and later obliterate -without warning- its use? my MacBook 2008 still works great, I never hoped to last so far -even exceeding the performance of newer non-Apple laptops-.

Apple, let us annoy our PC's friends, let us brag our decision to successfully switch to your products and systems.

Seriously, let us still transfer the music we love to our devices ... please.

You have correctly identified the original issue. iOS 9.0 would not work with iTunes 11.4, the highest version of iTunes that will work with Snow Leopard. I run 10.6.8 and had to reinstall iOS 8.4.1 on my iPhone 5 because I had upgraded it through iTunes. The problem Thorzdad brings up is more specific to those of us who run Snow Leopard because it will not run iTunes 12. Apple has stopped signing the restore software for iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 9.0, which means that if you upgrade your iPhone or iPad through iTunes v11.4, you WILL NOT be able to downgrade it back to iOS 8.4.1 unless you have downloaded the software before Apple stopped signing it.

Has anyone upgraded their iPhone or iPad OTA to iOS 9.0.2 who is using Snow Leopard as their MacBook Pro operating system? That is the question Thorzdad (and others like us) need answered. If you are already running Lion or higher, then you cannot answer this question for us.

I have the same operating system: iMac 10.6.8 with iTunes 11.4.

9.0.2 works fine for iPads. For iPhone 5c, not so much. iPhone 5c with 9.0.2 is not recognized by iTunes 11.4. Cannot back up phone, cannot add songs to iPhone. Hopefully Apple will allow both iPad Air and iPhone 5c with 9.0.2 to still work smmothly.

Mac manages to address one issue and creates 300 new ones. 😠

Would resetting the iPhone 5c back to factory settings resolve this?

Oh Apple. When you sent your new update to my iphone it caused it to no longer have compatibility with my iMac because my iMac running Snow Leopard is obsolete. Except it isn't. Why? Because everything works great on it except my iphone does not recognize it. Will you cause me to buy a new iMac so my iphone can sync to it? No way. I downloaded google play to my iMac and to my iphone and now I have a better system than iTunes and it all syncs perfectly. How come Google apps work on my Apple hardware but Apple apps can't? Will my next phone be an Apple phone? No. Will my next computer be an Apple computer? No. You're getting worse and worse Apple.

I've had this same problem and first noticed it when I got my iphone 6 back in Jan of 2015. I did some update it would no longer work syncing with iTunes. Now, I've run into this again. I've been bugging Apple care about this; as the result of another issue, they insisted I update my software. I disagreed with the advice but reluctantly went ahead with it. Now it fails to sync.

What I've pointed out (no one else seems to have caught onto this) is that they are still supporting Windows 7 with iTunes. WHAT THE HEY HO??? Windows 7 was released the same time as Snow Leopard. So they support Microsoft but not their own community of mac users. I still love my 2009 MBP and it runs great. I didn't think I would have to update my entire operating system just to sync a phone.

I feel as though Apple no longer wants to support users freedom and is now interested only on conformity.
