Sync iOS 9.0.2 with iTunes 11.4?

When iOS 9 was released, there was a problem where you could update your iOS device via iTunes 11.4 on Snow Leopard, but after the update, the ios device could no longer be recognized by iTunes. The fix was to downgrade back to iOS 8, and then upgrade your iOS device to 9 via wi-fi. Your iOS device will then connect to iTunes 11.4 successfully.

I didn't do the 9.0.1 update. Does anyone know if Apple did anything to correct this problem in either that one or the new 9.0.2 update? Or, should I stick with the wi-fi update?

Thanks!

I haven't "switched" to WIndows but I have a windows desktop and regularly use windows in my work.

I know a few people out there that are having the same issue. Many people are worried about upgrading their macbook to the newest OS after hearing some major problems come out of Lion etc. Further, some people can't upgrade - their laptop is too old for the new OS.

I'm using my macbook right now to write this post and it works beautifully.

If my car was 6 years old and they stopped doing parts for it I would be dismayed. Why is it ok to stop supporting the macbook I have?

It looks to me like I'm going to have to start using my PC to back up my iphone INSTEAD of my macbook. Crazy.

Computers change radically over 6 years. While a vocal minority doesn't like it, Apple has decided that Apple hardware older than 5 years is unsupported. Why they continue to support older Windows you cannot expect Apple to state. Maybe it is because Microsoft supports Windows for longer so there are more older PCs out there and considering the market share that represents it is worth bringing out Windows version iTunes for longer. Very likely it all comes down to marketing economics in the end. No matter, Apple has decided 5 years and while you are welcome to provide feedback it has been that way for decades now and they are unlikely to change unless required to do so by law (and some place do so require them to a limited extent, see: Vintage and obsolete products - https://support.apple.com/HT201624). As for cars, US distributors are required by law to carry parts for 20 years. One day after that 20 years the parts disappear from their catalogs. Cars don't really change as much in 20 years as computers do in 6.

I Fully understand it but I just feel like whining. I know lots of other people are in the same boat. I just have a feeling that the syncing issue is down to intentional blocking rather than necessary blocking in order to drive updates of computers etc. And by this I mean it is not required but is a marketing decision to remove the ability for me to backup my phone or sync my music and may I add without notification of this issue - something easily done. If there had been a simple warning I would not have updated my iPhone. I think this is a reasonable request. I'm not asking for a lot here. I'm not asking for Apple to update everything on my computer. Im just asking apple to support one key connection in their lineup of products. So I can keep using my perfectly good laptop and demonstrate to the world that apple products are wonderful and deliver value due to their long functional lives ( a balance against the higher up front prices you pay for their hardware).

cheers
