El Capitan Keyspan Adapter Support

Hi all,

I started doing some research after reading this post about having to manually enable support for USB to Serial keyspan adapters. Believe it or not I use the Tripp Lite USA-19HS on at least a weekly basis and is an upgrade deal breaker if support has been eliminated or if the manual steps to enabling support are unwise. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. This is mainly for future reference - I'm still on Yosemite 10.10.5 and I found that the old "Driver for USA-28XG_v2.6.4 (Mac OS X 10.6.x to 10.8.x).zip" file on the Tripp Lite site (which contains the "Mac OS X 10.6.x to 10.8.x_v2.6.4.pkg" installer inside) still seems to work with my USA-28X B device on Yosemite. But once I upgrade to El Capitan (after 10.11.3 or 10.11.4 comes out), I'll still need to find a USA-28X G model for it to keep working, probably ...

Just got my Keyspan USA-28X B working.

After installing El Capitain I could not get my kespan working at all. Thought I'd have to buy more new gear.

So, I zapped the pram on my computer. Actually, turned off the computer, then as it restarted I down the command/ option/ r/ p " key.

Chimed two times then went on to compete start up.

Then downloaded the " USA-19HSdrvr_10.9_10.10_10.11_v4_signed.pkg " from Tripplitte site.

Did the the install as a custom without the update.

Restarted then re-did the install as automatic install.

Restarted the computer and zapped pram again.

After completing start up the app appeared in my applications folder, I double clicked on the icon and - voilá ! there appeared the icon " 1 [UAS28X] [ Key Serial ] [ USA28Xfd14P1.1] and [ USA28Xfd14P1.2] . Mine a a two port adapter ( see the last number in each of the USA serial references ).

Working beautifully on my old 1996 tablet.

Hi, I also have the Keyspan USA-28X. From my observation, the problem only occurs when the Keyspan is presented for the first time on the Mac’s USB bus.

When I plug it directly into the Mac USB port. I will get a KP everytime I turn on the Mac. But I will just wait for seconds for the Mac to automatically restart. There will no problem after that, even restarting doesn’t induce the problem.

When I plug it into a self-powered USB hub. I will get get a KP only when I turn on the Mac after the USB hub gets the power for the first time. After that, as long as the power that feeds the hub is not interrupted, I can even turn the Mac off and turn it back on without getting a KP.

Hi,

I want to thank you and the other folks so much.

I am not at all computer literate. When there is an OS upgrade, i wait till several iterations until most of the bugs are supposedly worked out.

So, I recently installed 11.4. Wrong! First, I could not delete anything without the system saying..sorry can't find object or some such thing..

I finally found a thread on this board that said rebooting would fix this...it did.

Then, my keyspan 28XG would not work. I followed the step by step in “louser’s” last post and thanks to all of you, it now does. It is interesting that my Network says the keyspan is not connected..but it works...so “connected” or not, I am not going to complain.

I have read that Apple is getting sloppy. I have never, ever, had this much trouble with an upgrade before. I have not mentioned multiple other problems I have had. Anyhow, thank you all again.

Hello,

I have the USA-28X keyspan adapter, several of them in fact, and a two month old MacBook Air which just downloaded the latest ElCapitan update.

Unfortunately it arrived with ElCapitan... The **** thing freezes as soon as I plug in the adapter, restarts and only then it can use the adapter.

This is with the new Triplite driver which "does them all" written for Os 10.11. Loading the old driver with the ctr+click method also produces the same results.

Did I miss something??
