Mac Pro keeps logging out since El Capitan

My recovery was short lived. After functioning correctly for at least two hours, my system started crashing again, notwithstanding the new NVIDIA drivers. Same symptoms as everyone else: logging out after seconds and windows fragmenting and failing to work properly after logging back in. So it's back to two displays from a single card.

I just bit the bullet and bought two ATI Radeon HD 4870 cards. I figured the $200+ price tag would actually save me money in the long run, rather than waiting days or weeks for Apple to send out a fix for this (even if it is on their to-do list). I am infinitely more efficient with two or more displays, and it is a must for me personally.

I will have them installed and report back within a day after I receive them. This is not a "fix" obviously, but from what I have been reading here from others' experiences, it should work. And I'll have two upgraded cards compared to the GT 120 when all said and done I suppose.😕

After installing the latest NVIDIA drivers from their latest release today (October 6), how are things going? Your last reply was maybe 7 hours ago....

Have you tried multiple tasks, gestures, etc. to try to replicate the logout issue? How are things going?

I've just updated to todays drivers...still can't get more than a minute without logging out. 2x gt120 + radeon 5770: 1 display each card. Back down to a single monitor for me until it is sorted. 😟

I have been running with the new NVidia drives since about 11 AM (EDT) this morning with only one log out right after I initially rebooted with the new drivers.I am running one GT 120 and one PC 5770 with one monitor connected to each card.

Did you also do the CUDA update? I am confused about this, but it says that some applications will need this update to use the CUDA technology....

I am also using the new nvidia driver with a GT 120 and a PC GTX 760. I have not had a log out issue all day (running around 8 hours now). Note that I have separate spaces turned off still. I have not tried enabling it.

Where did you get the CUDA update from? AFAIK I've only installed the Drivers update.

I have plugged them back in and disabled the separate spaces thing and no log outs so far. But mail seems very slow when clicking on a new message.

And I miss the separate desktops

Yes, but read what they have to say first. It isn't extremely clear as to why or if this update is also needed.

To all who have updated to today's latest NVIDIA drivers...

Did you all also make sure to click on the NVIDI icon in the upper right toolbar, and manually select "Nvidia Web Driver"? or via the NVIDIA preferences? Restart is required after this.

Otherwise, you will still be running on the original OS X default graphics driver, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Feedback and results are appreciated after/if you all have done this....

I have been using the Nvidia drivers that were updated todays since about 11 AM without problems except an initial hiccup. The Nvide drivers are selected in the Nvidia Preferences panel.

209 P with Mac GT 120 and PC 5770, one monitor each card, Separate Spaces not checked,

Not using Nvidia's CUDA drivers

Steps I took but issue persisted

1. Installed Nvidia driver. Prompted a restart - restarted computer

2. Changed to Nvidia Web Driver via Nvidia icon on System Preferences

3. Restarted

4. Installed NVIDIA CUDA. Didn't prompt restart - I still restarted.

The "back to login" and distortion worsened on mine. Didn't attempt going back to OS X default graphics.

I have followed the same steps, Anidamo.

- Spaces off

- Latest NVIDIA drivers (10/6/15)

- CUDA update/install

- 2 GT 120 cards with one monitor in each

- Cards in slot 2 and slot 4

- using NVIDIA drivers via NVIDIA preferences

Still have logout issue. Oh well. One (monitor) love.
